"My" Etys Year in Review

I keep getting alerts that I should check to see my "Year in Review" from Etsy, but all it does is take me to my normal Dashboard.  Am I missing something?  And why would I have to use a damned QR scanner to get there?!

Yes, it looks like I'll never get to see mine, as I don't have that kind of a phone, for either the code or the app.

All the while that ginormous green blob occupies my dashboard, with no option to remove it.

I don't use a phone or the app, so I won't see it either.

From past years, not a big deal.  Etsy trying to put a positive spin on the stats you have, even though thanks to Etsy actions and glitches during the year they were only a fraction of what they should have been.

I don't do phone apps, QR codes or the other unnecessary stuff on phones.  So, I won't see mine either!!!!

I don't think you have to use the QR code, but looks like the only place you can view it is in the new blue Etsy Seller app.

The new app is the whole point. At least, that’s what it looks like.

It's not that exciting. A couple of pretty screens and then a review of how many sales you have made in 2022 and a pat on the back from Etsy. I bought a new phone today and was checking on my Etsy shop when this preview appeared on my screen. See if you can reach it through a phone browser.

Do they think we are stupid and clueless without any idea of how our own shops are doing? I have no need to see their summary of how my shop is doing.

I have the same green banner Message in my Dashboard.  I don't use apps nor a smartphone (rarely use my flip phone; go ahead, laugh).  I use the same desktop computer for everything.  Here's the thing.  I received the email today with a Tab which said to see my Year in Review.  I do not click tabs or links within the emails, ever. I also never click onto photos for "Recommended for you" (I've received my own items) or for anything else.  So I don't know what I would have viewed had I clicked the Tab.  But I do know how my Shop performed. 

There's been a recent change (within about a week) re: the Etsy emails.  Most of mine come directly to my Inbox.  But some have made their way to my Spam folder, and I don't know why.

I do not download apps etsy. give me the "X" to remove that garbage from my dashboard! you suddenly feel the need to OVERLORD me with non-removable banners. you should cease that practice immediately.

Sorry, Etsy, I don’t want anything to do with your app. I saw it on the dash, but, honestly, didn’t feel the effort to scan the QR code was worth it. Thanks for the heads up that it leads to the app. Saves me the curiosity.

Etsy is encouraging use of their App. Some sellers run their small businesses via their smart phones and Etsy appears to be marketing to this targeted audience.  Unfortunately there are many of us who use computers to conduct business and Etsy has kinda missed that.  Etsy is often disconnected from their community.  On a good note, most sellers already know how they've done throughout the year.

I run my shop through my phone, but not either of the apps.

I'll continue to use a browser, as always.

@CuriosAnCollectibles Yeah, a lot of people do this now as smart phones are mini computers, right? 

I have downloaded the app.  But, I really only use it for notifications and a few quick responses when necessary.  In this way it's been helpful.  For my work a bigger screen is essential for editing and other types of tasks so I seldom use my phone for Etsy.  The cool thing about Etsy is each shop owner is so different.  There is no "one" thing fits all.  I really loved hearing that so many sellers don't have a smart phone!  It should never be a requirement.

The app is like you say limiting. My phone has way more functionality than my first computers ever did. Lol

My first computer, I programmed in assembler, it could do quite a lot of  things,

but coloured images were beyond it

For some reason they're pushing sellers to download the new app. 

I haven't bothered as yet because I know what I've done on Etsy this year, I don't need the app to tell me sales are dropping every year.

I have raised a call with etsy, as I don't have a smartphone or tablet,

if that doesn't work, I will initiate GDPR

if they have information about me or my shop (as my shop is linked to me), they have to provide it to me, and they can't force the app on me to view it, as I don't need it to run my shop
