Hi, I am a new seller on Etsy and I am only receiving messages from scammers as "I need your email address" and I mark such messages as spam and do not reply. In addition, I have not contacted them yet because I do not have any real customers. But 6 days before that, I encountered a restriction: "Bummer, your messages have been temporarily disabled. Please contact support to have them reactivated. Also, see the FAQ and Community Guidelines for more info about Messages." Although it has been 5 days since I created a support request, unfortunately, no response received yet. What should I do, if the customer writes, I won't be able to respond, and this wouldn't help for me to make sales.
Contact Etsy again
when I read the posts on the forum of people who have experienced a similar situation, I saw that there are those who say that creating a request again only cause to delay.
@BERNZCOMPANY - since you are a new seller, if you contact Etsy about an issue, don't create a new email, just keep on answering the original request stating that you still need help. Creating a new help request will put you at the bottom of the list and Etsy will just close it.
Did you send any messages to people who had not reached out to you first? If you do that, it can be considered spam, which Etsy frowns on. Also, Etsy frowns on sellers using copyrighted images and names in their listings. You have many in your shop, and should review Etsy's polices on intellectual property: Intellectual Property Policy.
I've never done what you're talking about because I'm a new salesman. Also I thought about this, but there are hundreds of sellers who sell such similar products, and they do not experience the same situation.
@BERNZCOMPANY Yes, there are many shops selling phone cases, but Vintorious is giving you a helpful heads up regarding the names you've put on yours. Companies such as Nike, Jack Daniels, Philip Morris, etc., can request that Etsy remove anything of yours that infringes on their name and product trademarks.
The fact that hundreds of other sellers do the same thing doesn't make it okay for you to do it. Eventually, all of you will get caught and lose your shops.
you're right, but this is not about me being unfairly restricted right now.
Does it really say "bummer"? Wild that Etsy decided this was the best wording to let sellers know they can't send messages.
Yes, and I just flagged the scammers as spam, I'm experiencing this situation.

While your messaging is suspended you can use email. But that won't protect your star seller status. You either have to answer each message at least once or mark it spam. If you mark it spam, you do not have to answer it.
If you send messages to customers that aren't about an existing order, Etsy considers that spam and will punish you with a suspension of message priveledges for about 2 weeks. Even if they answer you, they aren't likely to remove it until your suspension time is up. If it was a mistake, it will likely take you more than 2 weeks to get ahold of a real person. They usually just send you canned responses the first couple replies, which may not actually have anything to do with your problem.
I was just getting messages from scammers and I marked it as spam and didn't reply. despite this, I am experiencing this situation.
Customer RARELY message about a sale. IMO, 99.999% of the time they just buy. If "buyers" are messaging you before sales, it's most likely scams.
unfortunately, you're right, and Etsy can't avoid this problem.
I have about 1/4 as many messages as sales- in my experience a fair number of customers and potential customers do message with questions/customizations.
@BERNZCOMPANY: If you are getting the "Bummer, your messages have been temporarily disabled" advisory, and not to discount the fact that your messaging may have been disabled in error, generally it is because the system has detected that your account has been sending unsolicited non-transactional messages.
One of the Etsy admins has been able to fix messaging which has been muted in error and hopefully they will see this post and investigate for you.
