While I am able to use the Etsy app to add captions to the photos and videos in my Etsy shop's "about me" section, when I try to do the same for the photos and videos in my listings the captions do not appear. 

When I edit the listing, the captions are attached to the photos. When I view the listings, I cannot find the captions. I have been using Etsy captions in hte n"about me" section for a year+. I first noticed that this option was also available for listing photos about a month ago.

Any information or suggestions?

Listing photos don't have captions displayed. What are you talking about or seeing?

I was seeing the prompt for "alt text" and confusing that with a. prompt for text on the photo. Ny error. Thank you for your reply.

Yes, we can add captions to the photos in our About section.  Our listing pics have the option to add "Alt text" .  That won't show up in our listings as a caption, though.

Google search what Alt text is, if you don't know.

You would need to use a graphics program, like Canva, to add actual text on top of your pictures, but it's not a good idea for Google search.

I've used it for info=graphics in one or two picture slots, when appropriate.

* Here is a listing I created that has text in it - the last picture.  It was that way before I uploaded it into the listing.

That's not a caption, it's alt text.

You should see this message when you add the alt text to your images.

Use alternative (alt) text to describe images or media for people with visual impairments. Alt text is accessible by screen readers and can also impact your listings’ SEO on external search engines.
