Can you give us more info on what is actually happening? How do you know people are trying to buy? If you are receiving messages asking for your email address then that's a SCAM I'm afraid.
If you can't reply to a customer's message (invalid user name) - that means that Etsy has deleted the user account because they are scammers.
Your shop is working fine -- I was able to add an item to my cart and proceed to checkout.
As Amadorn says, you were most likely contacted by a scammer

But did you try to complete the sale by clicking the black bar at the bottom? I'm having my friends and family are getting an error message when trying to checkout that says "Oh Dear. There was a problem submitting your order. Please give it another shot. If you continue to have problems, please contact support"- This happened to two separate people that I know trying to order two separate listings last night. Not scammers. Tech support is impossible. So frustrating.
Your shop is fine. If you receive a message from anyone saying they want to buy but they can't then they are trying to scam you. The scammers are targeting new shops.
Always check your Shop Manager to see if you really have a sale or not.
I need some help. I recently open up a shop on Etsy. I am selling digital art.
I am trying to purchase from my shop with my wife’s at the account every time I do it I receive a message back from auntie the order was declined. The shop is working fine. I just don’t know why people cannot purchase from my shop. It is so hopeless because I cannot get any support from Etsy.
Hi everyone,
Thank you for answering so quickly !
The thing is that I tried to order myself (with another Etsy account) from my shop to see if it is well linked to the Print on Demand account I created (Gelato), I was able to place the order and pay for it but then Etsy sent an email saying the purchase was canceled. (Is it because I used the same creit card that is registered on the Etsy shop?)
Do Not ever buy from yourself, it is prohibited on Etsy by Etsy.
@RoamingRagsDesigns Etsy detected your IP address. That is shilling and forbidden on Etsy!
Definitely don’t do that again! Yes, it was easy for Etsy to see that you were attempting to buy from your own shop.
These are probably scammers that are targeting new shops. Unless you see a sale in your payment account, it is most likely a scam. When you do get an actual sale Etsy will notify you of the sale and the funds will appear in your payment account.
People are able to buy from your shop. Scammers tend to contact new shops because the shop owners (you) are less familiar with scams and therefore more likely to gall for the scams.
If you have no sales, you should explore other reasons why people aren’t purchasing your items. There is no problem with checking out.
I have listed a couple of digital items myself. I ran plenty of ads as an experiment. I have dozen of visits, but no sale. Then I wondered about the functionality of my store. So I asked a couple of friends to buy from me and see what happens. Two received a message that the transaction couldn't be made and they asked them to check with their banks. These are people who usually buy internationally regularly and they have no issue doing that. In one instance, a buyer received a message thanking from the sale, and I feceived a message congratulating me about the sale. I went to my shop manager, I noticed that there is one sale but the metrics of balance were still all 0. Then this friend received another message telling him that the transaction couldn't be made. He received no download link and nothing was cut from his bank account. He tried again, I had two sales showing up on my shop manager, no other metric changed...all set to 0. Then the sales went down to 1 then to 0. I have been talking with etsy support back and forth and submitted all the pieces of evidence. Including the screen shots of the shop manager and the receipt my friend received of the purchase before all was canceled. Etsy support assured me a couple of times that they had investigated the matter and everything looks good. I think they have done their best just from the long emails they have devised for my specific issue, but they couldn't resolve the problem unfortunately.
A quick look at your store shows you are selling items that would be considered copyright infringement by Etsy. You cannot say "inspired", legally, that is still using the name "Godfather" it is owned by Paramount Pictures.
Why is this thread coming up if it was posted 09-16-2023?
Thanks for your reply. I always check trademarks. For the Godfather, the hand holding the name is what is copyrighted by Paramount Pictures. You can check it yourself. And pictures of characters/actors are considered public domain. Further, why would etsy official technical support miss to tell me this after thier thorough investigation. They say if something is wrong, they notify the shop owner via email. And those weren't the items we tried with. No item in my digital download is inspired by anything. But, thanks again for reminding me about the importance of copyright. Really appreciated.
Etsy technical support techs don't handle infringement cases. If you checked it, then OK, but I always thought the names of the movies were copyright infringement.
After reading some posts, they say that proceedings happen in certain order. First, someone needs to file an infringement against the accused shop owner. Then etsy gives a notice and they remove the item in question. In case of dispute, you have the right to file a counter case. And then 12 Angry Men...guilty or innocent. Nothing of what happened in my case resembles this. Item listed and it can't be purchased, no accuser, no notice no removal of item either...Shutter Island
The OP is 'currently not selling on Etsy'.

if you are trying to get your shop permanently shut down.
that is the way to do it.
etsy can see your IP address.
and you have made 13 sales.
so i do not understand why you are trying to order from yourself.
