notifications of messages delayed in iOS app

Hi everyone,

I seem to not be getting notifications of messages in my app.  this has caused me to lose my star seller rating because I received a message a day after it was sent. It was very strange because I already replied to a "help request" from this buyer and was in contact with him, then a day later I received the same message in another thread. does anyone else have this issue? It seems very unfair as I always reply tom messages on time.  Is there anything I can do to get my rating back?

Unfortunately no.  Etsy has said they will not change star seller status when errors/glitches happen.

Are you sure the message was not there before?  Help message and message are two separate things.

The app is so wonky, I would not rely on it but check through a browser on phone or computer at least once a day.

Thank you. I literally saw the glitch happen before my eyes so it is Very frustrating. Shame Etsy doesn’t provide customer support for these errors. Thank you for your response

Re: notifications of messages delayed in iOS app

This just happened to me. I not only checked my messages both days, but refreshed the messages b/c I had this happen once before, and done this several times each day. (Because I can’t always trust the message to show up with the red notification.) AND the message notification EMAIL was ALSO delayed the same amount of time! It wasn’t until the customer sent me a second message. AND This was a message from someone who had also placed an order with me and was asking about another potential order. But that message was not attached to the buyers order even though it was within the same account/email. I do have proof that it was delayed getting to me, but can anything be done for it?
Lastly I noticed when investigating that  current messages are being delayed by 3-5 days to calculate the upcoming star seller amounts.

I don’t know what else I can do.

Re: notifications of messages delayed in iOS app

@CourageousFineArt   Etsy does not delay messages at the end of the months for star seller.  It does not count the last two days for star seller for the following month.  It does not delay them or stop them. The messages do count for the month after.

Chances are it is a combination of things.  Your phone, the app and your service.  If the buyer initiated a new message it will display that they ordered before but it does not attach to buyers order.

I would suggest not using the app always but use the browser on the phone or computer and check email on a computer at least daily.  Relying solely on the app is not a good idea.

Re: notifications of messages delayed in iOS app

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately the message was delayed within the Etsy system. Not my phone or app or server.
All of my messages are also sent to my email. The message logs within the star seller log info for the 8th, but was not sent to my messages, or my email until the 10th. Each day I check several times, by refreshing and going into the messages themselves and refreshing multiple times. I’ve been started opening up a message and refreshing, to see if it refreshes the entire messages. I do do this in more than one internet browser, and app.
The message logged into my email more than 24 hours later with a time stamp.

As it relates to the delays for logging into my star seller, I understood that to be 24 hours, but now it’s longer. I hear what you are saying about the delayed times but still including what will be 3 months at the end of the month.
I have had this happen one other time and he been extremely careful to prevent it happening again. The difference then, was I had many more messages to factor into my score.

There was in fact a delay notification to me. As a matter of fact, the app never notified me, never showed a message with the red notification, never showed any new message within the messages even with refreshing, nor within the browser. It wasn’t until she messaged again, that the message showed up with the previous message. And that’s when it went through to my email also.
I’ve had messages not go into the threads and orders before, from time to time even with the same account/email being used by the buyer.

This was in fact a glitch within the Etsy system. I have two sources showing so, with the matter having the time stamp being in fact the day/time I received it.
I do appreciate you taking time to message again. I would like to submit this to them so it can be something to prevent for the future for others wherever the glitch might have been.

if it has been my app, server, iOS, phone, connection etc only, it would not have proven so within the email notification also. As it did - more than 24 hours later. It did not log it as the 8th but the 10th. I had also multiple communications within that timeframe with others.
Thank you,

Jennifer
