new listing issues

Not sure what the problem is here but I keep having issues with adding photo's and/or making a new listing in general.

my web browser is a bit out of date not enough to effect sign in and making a listing though as the only way that I can make a new listing is through copying an existing listing and making alterations.

I have no issues making new listings on ebay or my personal website and see no issue why it would be happening here.

before someone suggests that I contact Etsy support please know that out of the 6 -10 times I have had to contact them half of those times I received a solution,the rest of the time I have been read a script and seems like I was talking to a robot more than anything else.

I only noticed these issues after commenting on the forums and being somewhat critical of etsy on certain issues that we all complain about or an least the majority of sellers don't agree with.in the past two weeks.

all to often in the past things like this have occurred at somewhat coincidental times,perhaps I am wrong and no correlation exists.

What i do know full well is that Etsy will censor public comment here on the forums if it gives them bad P.R.

If you have a solution then please let me know or if you have had to deal with similar situations then please comment /share your thoughts on the issue.

There have been a few OPs lately that mention not being able to get past the physical/digital page, adding/cropping photos not working, edits not taking, etc.   No correlation between that and your forum posts.

One solution is to make a copy of an existing listing and use that for a new one.

yeah probably no correlation but for the past three times I have gone to the forums over the past year or so I have only ever realized issues after comments that were some what critical of etsy.

when doing the math on the statistic/probability it is like 1 in a million after happening 2/3 times in a row.

glad to know I am not the only one seeing issues.

It's sad, but I'm just impressed you got solutions half the times you reached out to support. A 50/50 chance is better odds than I would give them.

yeah I am as well,after starting a Ebay store and Ebay being more open to knives being sold on their platform and the seller support actually speaking to me like an actual person.

It actually felt good in fact when I had issues with either a grey area of the TOU's or a mis understanding they would go trough things with me over the phone and give both a personal opinion and the reply that their job required.

instead of just reading from a script.

I usually clear the cache or switch to a different browser if one isn't working.

I never start a listing from scratch, always copy & edit.

and yeah, I too am amazed at the level of assistance you've received from support.

the clear cache does not work in this case as I have restarted my computer and each browser session deletes and refreshes my data.

I can understand copying things when you often sell like items but many of what I sell are too different to simply copy an existing listing.

I had trouble loading photos today…took forever and I had to wait for one to load (a good 10-12 seconds) before I could load another. *sigh* Yet another Etsy speed bump. I’m on iPad Safari. I suppose I could try another browser, but I shouldn’t have to play “eeny, meeny, miny , moe“ with browsers in order for this to work properly.

yep similar issues but wont load/refresh as I am on PC.

I have waited for a half an hour with no update to the page or listing.

Weird, I have listed a lot today, added photos etc no problem. I'm on a PC using Chrome. Even for items that are not similar I would still copy because those changes are quick and easy to make. Ever since the new listing form came out I avoid it like the plaque. I have heard of too many issues. I agree with most others that it is FAR more likely a coincidence about your shop being targeted if you veered to the not so complimentary. Etsy truly doesn't have the manpower to manage that and they get negative comments thrown their way on the regular.

yeah I just installed google chrome it seems to work for some reason but firefox won't.

for some reason I am not able to reply to post's on the forum through google chrome but it will allow through firefox.

Can you put a newer (not necessarily the newest) version of your browser on your device?  I know it's a hassle, but sometimes you have to upgrade your software because Etsy and other websites don't work well with the older ones.

I do get it, because I hate change and some of my devices are older.

@HephaestusForgeCraft I would suggest you update your browser and see if that fixes the situation. Why would you knowingly use an outdated browser? 

I use Chrome and it pretty much updates itself. There'll be a message in the upper right corner saying that it will update the next time I restart the browser, or something to that effect. Easy peasy and it only take seconds!
