We don't get messages about new items. New items appears under Notifications in the tag line of the shop or in Favorites depending if you are in the test. There is an orange dot that indicates new items. If you are getting messages those sound like spam.
As to messages, are you getting new messages but no dots?
I don't get numbers any longer just the orange dots for messages and sales. Been that way for months for me.
