my recent Etsy search experience - terrible

My brother asked me if I could order something for him from a UK Etsy shop, which he had found through a Google search.  He gave me the name of the shop and the two main keywords of the item plus the make of the part (specific spare part for vintage clock).  I found the shop OK using the search bar, but once in the shop, and using the two main keywords he gave me, no results, and unfortunately the seller had over 1450 items but no sections.  Called my brother and asked him for other words that could be used to describe the item and we tried three different possibilities, but still no results.  As a last resort, I asked him what the first photo looked like so that I could scroll through the listings looking for a pile of brown and red cardboard packets......

When I found the item, the third and fourth words were the two keywords my brother had given me to start with!!  Must anyone wanting to find anything specific on Etsy now always use Google search?!

It's been terrible for years, however IMO it's no longer fit for purpose.

Re: my recent Etsy search experience - terrible

@LeLightFantastique  I noticed this issue in my shop, actually by accident. I searched (within my shop using the first title word and then the first two title words) for an item and it did not show up in the searched items. I first had to review the entire listing carefully thinking for some reason etsy may have disabled it, then I de-activated it and then created a new listing.  Now occasionally I'll go through my Sections and count to make sure all items are all showing. If I recall the listing showed up in etsy search, checked by myself and etsy support. So no clue why it happened.
