How do I complete an order with local pick-up? Etsy won't let me complete it without a tracking number.

From Etsy's help (hopefully still valid)

"When is a tracking number required? 

Tracking will not be required in the following instances: 

• Digital items, including custom digital items
• Customized order additions linked to another order
• Orders not being shipped (local pickup/delivery)
• Oversized and heavy items

If you need to indicate an exception other than what is listed, you’ll see an option to indicate This order doesn't have tracking below the tracking number field. You can then add a quick explanation for why you can’t add tracking for an order.

Adding tracking to your physical orders is one of the criteria for the Star Seller badge. Completing an order without adding tracking will not count as a tracked order towards Star Seller eligibility. 

For an order to qualify for Etsy Purchase Protection, it must include valid tracking. "

I found it. Thank you for the link. Originally I misinterpreted the the prompt and didn't recognize it as a button drop down menu. Still I find it odd that in my star seller stats I now have one untracked transaction. Hopefully that won't compromise my star seller status..

@BarnwoodRustics: "Hopefully that won't compromise my star seller status.." A shop needs to have 19 orders shipped on time with tracking for every one that was shipped late and / or without tracking to stay at 95%.

In addition to what Etsy has written, it appears that having untracked orders may trigger a Payment Account Reserve or a hold on your funds.

well that just happened to my shop. my shop has been put on vacation mode, my funds are now on hold. if this is the case. i will no longer run local pick request from buyers through Etsy. I've only had two in 9 years with Esty. I followed the most obscure Etsy protocol to complete the sale transaction. It's sad I only thought it to be fair seeing the purchases were made through Etsy.

Some shops have used Etsy's first class letter label - https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039466434-How-to-Ship-First-Class-Flats-and-Letters-with-...

They mail a thank you to the buyer, include a copy of the receipt they signed upon pick-up/delivery, etc.

This needs to be done within the listing's processing time. The tracking is not USPS, but thru Pitney Bowes but since it's an Etsy label it qualifies for the Star Seller. 

Someday, maybe, Etsy will finally come thru on their promise to shops, that they are working on a way for shops selling large, oversized items, etc. to handle delivery/pick ups and qualify the purchase for the Star program. And of course now, avoid a PAR.

This is the most awful feeling. no clear explanation into why, Etsy just put my shop on vacation, A hold on my funds and all that Etsy has to say is they need 48 hours to review the document I up loaded. I didn't upload any document. with no clear way to connect with support. I have no idea if my account has been hacked or what.  to make maters worse i just received the most heartfelt note from a very happy buyer, that i don't even know if she can leave the review she was so anxious to place
