keyboard problems on Etsy

I noticed a few weeeks ago, that I had difficulties typing a @, w, e, i, u and some capital letters on my laptop here in Forums posts or in messages.

But when I took it to the computer shop, it had miraculously recovered and the man was typing on Google in the search bar effortlessly.

After returning home, the magic effect lasted for a while, but then, it started caughing on @ and all the others from above again.

So I took the laptop to another computer shop, same thing, typing is flawless on Google search bar, but the longer I'm here, the more letters are saying bye bye.

When I return to Google, they recover.

Wth???

Does anybody else experience this?

Is it a known problem?

I'm on Windows 10, firefox.

Re: keyboard problems on Etsy

Could be flaky keyboard, flaky keyboard driver, flaky video card, of flaky user.  Presuming it is not the last, I suggest trying the usual and typical computer solutions that often resolve periodic wonky issues.

- Delete the cache on each browser you use from the settings area.

- Run cleanmgr.exe from the system32 folder to clean up errant and unneeded temp files.  On Win11 just start to type clean and it should pop up as Disk Cleanup.

- Reboot computer.

- Run windows update to install latest version.  Also check under Advanced Options on the update page, then Additional options on the Advanced page, and install any updates noted there.

- If those don't fix the problem, open an elevated command prompt (Start > cmd > run as administrator) and enter

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions.

- when that is done run System File checker from that same cmd window with the command line

sfc /scannow

System File Checker scans Windows and restores your operating system files.  It can take time. It won't delete any data files.

These steps should verify your system is operating correctly.  If the problem is not resolved, try running the repair tool on your browsers from the Apps folder (if available), or uninstall and reinstall your browser with a reboot in between.

And if those don't work, your physical keyboard may be failing.  They don't last forever and any gunk under the keys can produce sporadic typing.  A good shake-out might be needed to dislodge crumbs et all that may have fallen "between the cracks'.

Re: keyboard problems on Etsy

canned air works fabulous for cleaning keyboards, but when all else fails, a new keyboard is  the best move and unless you are one of those who "needs" a special type of keyboard, keyboards are very inexpensive these days...

Is it only on Etsy?  I would buy a new keyboard, they are very inexpensive these days.

Only here. Typing on Google removes the dysfunction.

@luxcrafter

thank you, but I'm on Windows 10, not 11.

My keyboard is built in, I think that it works fine most everywhere, but starts here with the typing fails.

My laptop installs newest versions by default, only yesterday.

I could try cache and cookies, with the rest, lol, I'm totally overchallenged.

I'd have to let a Profi do that.

But thank you so much for your tips!

It could be dirt under the keyboard, but I shook it 2 weeks ago and it didn't help.

Can I gently vaccuum it? Or would it suck the keys in, lol??

@AnnaleasFinest  'canned air' Ich nehm an, sie meint 'Druckluft'. Diese kleinen Druckluftdosen, mit denen man Staub wegpusten kann.

canned air is air in aerosol form(compressed air), that can be purchased from any office supplies outlet, and is promoted for the use to remove lint, dust and dirt from electronics, keyboards, computers.
