incorrect calculations during review period

Upset that I still don't have my star seller badge back after the last review period 1st Feb - 30th April.

In this time range I had 11 1 star reviews, and 1 3 star review only.

I queried this on the chat and they stated there was 1 1 star review. I have checked the date and sent a screenshot proving that this was left on Jan 31st (not within the previous review period, therefore should not have been calculated).

Regardless, I still do not have a star seller badge due to a technical error from Etsy by the looks of it which is extremely immoral in my opinion as I feel it is ongoing punishment for 1 poor review, regardless of multiple 5 star reviews and previously being a star seller continuously.

They say it doesn't affect your store however since losing my star seller badge my sales have dropped drastically which is having a great impact on my mental health and main source of income.

I would really appreciate this being fixed and my star seller badge reinstated as it should be.

Re: incorrect calculations during review period

It's happened to us 3 times. Etsy simply can't count. And their programmers write the most glitchy code. Etsy will try to tell you "it doesn't affect your shop". That is an outright lie, because it can have the biggest and worst affect on your shop (outside of a suspension), since without the Star Seller status, Etsy has the right at any time and for any reason (or without reason and there Legal Policy likes to say about everything Etsy has the "right' to do, that we all have to agree to), tp place an account "Reserve" on your payments.

That is found here:

https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360058722214-What-is-a-Payment-Account-Reserve?segment=selli...

And here, they tell you that they can hold those reserves "for a period of up to 180 days". Yes, without 'Star Seller' status, Etsy has the legal right to hold your money for half a year, without giving yo the exact details of what triggered it.

https://www.etsy.com/legal/etsy-payments/#deposits

So, miscalculation of the 'Star Seller' numbers is actually a material breach of contract on Etsy's part, since it does have a direct effect on the payment terms, and can cause financial damages.

Hope everybody made sure to submit the "Arbitration opt out" back by the August 2023 deadline!

@Ladyfernadelaide

"In this time range I had 11 1 star reviews, and 1 3 star review only."

Is that a typo? did you perhaps mean 11 5 star reviews not 11 1 star reviews?

also  "I have checked the date and sent a screenshot proving that this was left on Jan 31st (not within the previous review period, therefore should not have been calculated)."

Was that review left later in the day on the 31st? If so then that could be part of the reason. The reviews system is on the UTC time zone so if the review was left after it turned midnight in UTC time then it will be counted on the 1st. It's happened to me before. Not sure what the time difference is between where you are and UTC but for me in California it magically turns into tomorrow at 4 pm my time or is it 5pm? Either way it may have an impact on your review date.

@Ladyfernadelaide: "... proving that this was left on Jan 31st ..." Most dates are displayed to sellers in their time zone, but Star Seller is based on UTC so it is very possible that what was January 31 to you was February 1 to Star Seller.

Re: incorrect calculations during review period

It's always a bummer to get a low review because the buyer didn't read the description. But it happens to all of us at some point. I'm sorry this happened to you and that you're stuck with it for 3 months ... including the last day of Jan.

Etsy's date calculations sometimes include or exclude the last day of the month. It would be nice if they would communicate this more clearly. Same thing happens with listings.

So, the 1-star review will fall off your star seller stats in June.

I took a look at your shop, and it appears that the less than 5-star reviews were about size expectations. I doubt they'll dissuade future buyers and might even encourage potential buyers to check the dimensions.

Pat yourself on the back for providing photos that show size, accurate labels (miniature) and dimensions. Just goes to show that it's impossible to please every single buyer.
