hacked

Hi there i was hacked a year ago and after much going back and forth i was finally able to get my shop back and going.  however there are tons of negative comments when the hacker took over and never sent the product.  I have tried to reach someone with etsy but havnt heard anything back.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  Am i able for now to put a disclaimer in the discriptions of my products or something as an announcement?  any help would be so much appreciated

Re: hacked

I would definitely make a new start. Painful but necessary.

I agree with the above. Start another shop.

Re: hacked

Because the items that the hacker was selling have serious Intellectual Property Infringement... it leaves YOU open to having companies file DMCA take down notices on your sold listings.  You are on the hook for everything that was listed - Disney, NFL, Snoopy.

You need to start a brand new shop.

Re: hacked

Sorry that happened to you and your shop.

I would definitely start a new one. The reviews seem to shed too much negative light on your shop that it seems unsalvageable.

It may be daunting at first, but maybe you can make it fun by adding a few elements that you enjoy that aren’t already integrated.

Re: hacked

@CrazyConsuela  - I agree with everyone else - best to start fresh. Realize that while you have tried to explain your absence in your announcement, that you were hacked, if a buyer goes to your main page & reads that, they may have second thoughts. Many buyers do not realize that Etsy is the one responsible for collecting payments, etc. The notice that you were hacked may have them think their personal & payment information is not safe in "your hands". It will also be quite difficult to overcome your shop's overall One Star rating, which shows up whether a buyer goes to your main page or only ever sees the listing's description page.

Re: hacked

@CrazyConsuela Where are you located? I can see this Shop has been opened since 2015 so it may be possible that your Country is no longer one Etsy allows?

Re: hacked

@CrazyConsuela  So - I'm wondering if having issues with opening a new shop has to do with the finances and bank verification?  Check your Payment Settings - did you do the Plaid thing?  That's new this year.

Re: hacked

@CrazyConsuela - First, I'd suggest you deactivate all items in this current shop. Etsy does not allow shop owners to have two shops selling the same items, so there is the possibility that is the problem.

Yes, to open another shop (while this one is still "live") you will need to use a different email. Then you'll need to go thru the processes attached to your ID confirmation & bank accounts, etc.

Or, since you have already had your attempts to open a new shop quashed, you might want to try contacting Etsy again. There may be an issue that no-one but Etsy is aware of, as to why you are unable to open a new shop.
Go to your current shop's Shop Manager - Community & Help - Contact Us - pick the best topic. Some may lead you to Etsy help articles but eventually you should get to the point where "I still need help" is displayed. Clicking on this will send you to Etsy - email - opening a help ticket. Then you will need to patiently wait. If all you receive is a generic reply from Etsy, respond to that email that your issue is Not Resolved. Opening new help tickets only puts you to the end of the line again.

Re: hacked

You are probably doing this, but thought I would throw it out there.  You can't reuse the name, without a little change.

Re: hacked

You may need to contact Etsy for help as there may still be a "black mark" from the hack attached to your shop/account.

Re: hacked

Are you trying to list the same exact items in the 2nd shop?

Are you using a different email address? It has to be different than the one associated with this shop you're posting from.

Are you using a different shop name? You can't use the same name as this shop you're posting from.

If yes to any of these questions above that might be why.

Then it could be because this shop was hacked and Etsy is flagging these other shops.
Are you using the same banking info and credit card info? (You can use the same bank/cc info on multiple accounts.)

Can I Run More Than One Shop on Etsy? – Etsy Help

You will need:

  • A separate Etsy account for each shop
  • A separate email address on file with each account

To open a second Etsy shop, sign out and create a new account with a new shop:

  1. On Etsy.com, choose Your account.
  2. Select Sign out.
  3. Select Sign in.
  4. Choose Register.
  5. Enter an email address not associated with another Etsy shop, enter your name, and create a password. Select Register.
  6. Follow the steps to open your shop.

Be sure to accurately represent your businesses and make sure that each account complies with Etsy's Seller Policy.

Here's a call back link, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  But the people that  call you back are NOT Etsy employees and will probably send your concerns to a "specialist".

Re: hacked

Out of 74 reviews, only 9 have given 1-star rest are almost 5 stars still the average rating of the shop is just 1-star? How is that calculated? do the other 65 reviews not weigh anything? Sorry for your loss, shop doesn't look reliable anymore because of the series of negative remarks, start a fresh one, and good luck with that.
