first words in title now a link...

Jump to solution

We noticed that the first words in listings are now a link back to search...

this is on a browser.

whatever the first words of your title is, it's now clickable and brings the customer back to search.

I'm not seeing this. BUT this would not surprise me, especially since I don't see the black box anymore (in both chrome & firefox)

Have you added your shop name to the beginning of all your titles to trick this new test?

did you try this in multiple browsers? I mean is it browser related or is it an 'Etsy-thing'?

Sounds like you're in the latest Etsy test to me.

It sounds like a test to me too.  And I'm getting De Ja Vu; I remember seeing Titles truncated before, with 3 dots at the end.  I don't remember though, what happened when  you clicked onto them.
Right now I am not in this test.  I went to your first listing. When I hovered over it, I see the entire Title. (desktop computer, Chrome)

yup, the title is fully there, but the first few words are a clickable link, brings you back to search for items with those words in it...

100% did! all 1215 of them now have my shop's name first in my titles.

But now you have a lot of listing titles with your shop name repeated twice at the beginning? Is that how much space the link is taking? Now buyers can't see the important first words of the title at all.

I appreciate your attempt to trick etsy's test but I'd rather wait to see if it's something that is going to become permanent. Like the black box of tags, I had it, it went away, it showed up again and went away again. Will it come back? I do not know but I'll think of my own game plan when it becomes a permanent feature.

Also... I would have thought that more sellers would have mentioned something about this in the forum in other threads.

I have the exact same thing and seeing it in other shops. On the orange App for buyers  and the website online version. It’s taking buyers to other listings using my title when they click on it 🤦‍

When will etsy stop all this nonsense.  They are doing everything they can to drive customers out of our stores.  That part of the title is very important not only for etsy search but is indexed by google search, so letting it drive customers away is another stupid move by etsy.  Spending ad dollars here is a complete waste, well we've know this for quite some time, but more and more they prove this over and over again.  Everyday it's something new, I can't even keep up with it any longer.

It's as if we have to hold on for dear life (by our fingernails) to keep buyers in our shops.

Etsy is just thowing more and more sh!t at the walls to see if it sticks.

Here's an idea....fix search and let us SELL and boom - profits for all.

Etsy is like a kitten on steroids with all these tests, ideas, moving pieces, changes, etc.

I know I am annoyed when I click on something and it takes me someplace unexpected. I can't imagine potential buyers being happy with this.

And, if something isn't good for sellers, how can it ultimately be good for Etsy? Another idea I really hope they reconsider and toss it.

So when you click on an item of interest, Etsy offers to redirect you back to where you came from or to somewhere else?  Who dreams up this stuff to send our customers on a merry go round?!!
