very weird, what is going on?
I doubt it's from Etsy support. Mark as spam.
Mark it as spam as NanaLetha suggests, the scammers are preying on new shops. Good thing you asked.

This was in the announcements section if you click on Etsy forums on this page, then that section.
@SkyDomeHorns: It is a SCAM - you might want to read the excellent post by @bradgoodell in https://community.etsy.com/t5/Managing-Your-Shop/How-to-Spot-a-Scam-No-a-Buyer-Doesn-t-Need-Your-Ema... and https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Why-do-they-ask-me-for-my-e-mail-in-order-to-make-a-p...

Hi I have also just received the exact message that skydomehorns received. I have just sent them my email before I found this chat, I am a new seller, please can someone help me with what my next step should be. I don’t seem to be able to find a way to live chat or contact Etsy regarding this.

The next step in the scam will be emails to you that appear to br from Etsy Support - asking for banking info, etc.
Do not answer any other emails - send to spam.
They are very devious, and even have replicated live chat as part of their scam
As far as I know, them having your email alone is probably not a cause for alarm.
The next step is to mark the message as spam and then forget about it. As long as you don’t play along by responding they will eventually stop bothering you.
Thank you pillowdetails for your help, I will be more careful in future with what I reply to. It looked so official with the chat boxes. Thank you again
No matter how official it looks, just remember that Etsy will never ask you for your email. They already have it from when you set up your account.
Any information they need should be able to be accessed directly from your dashboard.
A very big clue on any email coming from anywhere, not just Etsy, is the wording. No one uses "kindly" these days. That is a big tip off whenever I see it, my scam detector radar starts going off.
I have seen some of the scammers have picked up on this (likely by reading the forums as theorized and adjusting their strategy) and started replacing it with please. So while yes, definitely a big red flag, some are getting better at not sounding completely like a scammer.
I just had this message and did message my email. Suddenly realised it was probably a scam and checked here. Luckily did that before responding to the email (although would have definitely clicked if they asked for bank details). Blocked email and reported message as spam! Thanks everyone
I have had just the same email. I’m glad I come to this forum before I answered. Thank you guys ♡
I have also had this today too. It came up as a notification on my phone and l thought it was very odd. Its definitely scam, Etsy never ask for your email address. When I checked via my desktop it wasn't in the "from Etsy" message section, best to mark as scam and ignore.
Hey
I received the same message on Etsy and i didnt realise it could be a scam so i gave them my emeial and they sent me the link and asked to confirm my account details , I filled the details and then it asked me how much balance i have in the account thats when it clicked that it was a scam . What shall i do now ???? Please suggest . Normally i can tell but it was very busy today and when i saw the message it didnt click .
Thank you .
Call your bank's fraud department and put a hold on the card immediately. Even if you didn't finalize the transaction today, they still now have your information and can figure out a way to take your money another way later on. You are likely going to need to cancel it and get a new one, but first just get a hold of the fraud department.
@audreythereseThank you so much . I trasffered the money from that account and just contacted fraud team .
