e-mail saying I have a conversation, but I haven't

This is a new one,

I have an e-mail saying I have - an etsy conversation with........ name of famous Australian Womens footballer, who also plays for a UK club

however, it's not in my messages inbox, and it's not in my messages spam folder

the e-mail address is the one normal etsy convos come through to my e-mail with

.....

I have heard of people getting messages, but no e-mail forwarded, but has anyone else had it the other way around, an e-mail saying you have a convo, but you don't?

even if it is spam, and given the name, I am inclined to think it might be, wouldn't it just go to spam, not disappear altogether?

If the users account was ceased by Etsy then all activity would be erased too.

But I have seen posts with people saying they still have the message, just can't reply - maybe etsy has become more sophisticated

Something's going on, I've got an order saying it's a repeat customer but I cannot find a previous order for this customer. We did exchange some messages a while ago but this is her first order though.

Not to mention the 'About this item' section (aka Description) that move from left to right and from right to left several times a day.

I've had that issue with the repeat buyer before too. Sometimes I can find a past order by just searching the customer's name from the shipping info as opposed to clicking the name for past orders.

When you look at the email header, does it have the correct email address from Etsy in it or is it a spoofed email?     

I've gotten a few of those from UPS - it looks completely legit except I know it's fake because I'm not expecting anything and then  I look at the return address to see it's some weird domain name.

It is the correct e-mail address, the same as I have from other messages

@CraftyCornishMaids: eMail address are too easy to spoof. You need to look at the header info (how varies by eMail client and / or browser) and look for a line like 'Received: from mail229-88.mail.etsy.com (mail229-88.mail.etsy.com [143.55.229.88])' and you can check if the IP address of the eMail server is legitimate. Not infallible but harder to fake than eMail address.

@CraftyCornishMaids: This is a very odd situation. Fortunately Etsy still includes the conversation within the eMail - they just hide it - if you look at the raw view of the eMail it is still there along with the Message ID.

@CraftyCornishMaids that sounds like the prelude to a scam to me (how do you get your product?) Or maybe just spam. Perhaps that's why it's been deleted from your message inbox.

That sounds like the intro to a spam type message to me too. Maybe Etsy just poofed the account if they started to scam/spam others already?
