working from my desktop there has been a change, or maybe just another dreadful test, where when you enter something in the search bar and the ability to choose "search by shop name" is no longer there.
@PlatypusDream i've only received that pop up question on a few. if sellers don't use their shop name as a tag it will look like their shops are no longer in service.
This only works if you put the name in full. I will often remember a part of a name, and used to be able to pull up all shops that contained whatever part I remembered to find them.
It's actually been going on a few weeks.
You can still choose the 'search by shop' in the orange buyer app.
I've had this for about two weeks. The drop down disappeared to be replaced to have that tiny little line in search results. Bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now people are more likely to Google search for shops by name if Etsy makes that another difficult thing to do on the site, likely finding them through off site ads. Because it's not about the shopping experience or logical functionality, it's all about squeezing every nickel and dime they can through any low effort means with no benefit to anyone but Etsy.
Yes, been noticing it for a few weeks. I know how easy to miss the- did you mean the shop name but that is no longer there for me. My shop is dead in the water so I am scoping out the competition. Typically by name search, never by the ads. One of my customers let me know she tried searching by shop name and a bunch of other listings came up.
So it's not me, it's whoever is trying to find me. Lovely. However, I think this may be a test, and is an "eye of the beholder" thing, that doesn't affect everyone, because my ability to find shops by name is still working.
