I have had a few people in the last few days saying they get to the Checkout part on Etsy and it just freezes, but by then they have already put their details in including the card details, so they are really worried!! and then just had another one now saying the same thing, so thought i would post this here , they are using a laptop and I also use a laptop with Google and clear everything every day and still crashes constantly, it ridiculous, Etsy please sort this out!!
I had a buyer tell me that also this AM but later she was able to purchase. Not sure what is going on but sounds like it might be site wide.
Also I have not been getting emails telling me I have a message for 2-3 days now and this AM nothing about the transaction--just a message from my buyer and then the order came thru later--NO EMAILS for either--I just happened to notice when checking my actual shop account.
Guess it is back to the old spiral notebook--I used to put all transactions in a notebook, by hand in case of a site mess up--have gotten lazy and quit doing that--but back to entering item purchased, sizing, and mailing address--just in case!
Honestly its so ridiculous, and of course its a worry for the customer as they have already put all their card details in and then it crashes, this is really not good and upsetting the buyers.
Every single time there is big mess up like this there is "something new" coming--a big Etsy change, and some techie has messed up the coding.
Just watch for it--we will find out in a few days I am betting!
@ThePurplePuppy oh i can bet on it, and in the meantime us sellers and buyers suffer from their complete mess up!
Has anyone else had this issue?
I had been getting orders consistently till last Thurs. then for 3 days not a peep, even a fave. Then yesterday it picked up again, maybe nothing but thought it was weird, as was getting lots of Halloween orders, back to back, and then lights out.
honestly its just a nightmare, and the buyers seem to think is my checkout service!! i wish it was as i would get it sorted out.
There is no way to know if there is a problem unless the buyer lets you know.
In my case this was a repeat buyer so she contacted me to ask what was wrong. First I knew of it.
I've had two sales today without any problems.
i have had 2 orders today as well but maybe i might of had more?? so maybe its the Etsy website problem and not the App.
I think if it was an Etsy problem the forums would be jumping with sellers all experiencing the same issue.
It could be anything out there from the browser to the card company.
The last buyer that told me about the problem did manage to do it finally half an hour ago, after many attempts, they just said the site just kept freezing all the time, but i would of been none the wiser if they had not let me know of the problem.
@ThePurplePuppy looks like i have lost yet another sale, absolutely marvellous with how rubbish its been.
well looks like i lost that sale as they have not come back to me (sad face)
I have not had the issue as buyer or seller but if the sale does not go through, the information is gone. There is no threat to their credit card. The information simply disappears. They can check their bank online if it was a bank card. They will probably see no sale was made.
As to reasons, it may not be Etsy per se. It can be any communciations system interruptions from the latest solar flare to other issues with the Internet. It can even be the ISP one uses. The reasons can be varied. Unless we see many avatars that never come to the forums visiting to complain of this issue it is likely sporadic and cannot be replicated without knowing the source of the interruption.
well it looks like it not just my customers who are having issues at checkout.
BUG - Customers are unable to check out - Welcome to the Etsy Community
Something is definitely amiss.
@MyOrganisedHome wow thats not great!
I had a friend of mine call me the other day asking if something was wrong with Etsy. She has not used her account for a while so she could not remember her password. Under normal conditions you would automatically be sent a link to email to change it within a few minutes. It took Etsy 24 hrs to send her a email and by the time she received the email the link had expired. It took her three days to get a new password. I thought that was little odd.
i think there is some really big issues going on behind the scenes that they are not mentioning, my Esy seach for the whole of the day shows just 3 visits, that is just so pathetically very very low, i have had the site freezing on me now for over a week, you just go and start to search something and then thats it the site crashes, i have been clearing everything daily and still the same, something is telling me they have done something they shouldn't of!! again!
Honestly with all the test, lack of sales, etc. I am emotionally drained and I have lost all my creativity. I love my customers here but I don't think my business will survive under the conditions of late. Something is going to have to change for the positive.
i had a great day Saturday on sales, the first in a very long time, and thought great thats it hopefully back to normal, spent the money from those sales on supplies and starting to think i should of just kept the money now, and yes your right it really is draining, you dont know where you are from one day, or one week to the next.
