alt text disappearing on first photo

I am trying to improve my listings, including adding Alt Text to the first photo (it's a start), however, when I return to that image to edit further, the alt text seems to have disappeared.

is this a glitch? or am i somehow doing something wrong along the way?

Are you using old or new editing page version? 

Updated to add. I just checked 3 listings edited yesterday. 2 were edited in the old version, 1 in the new one. Old version keeps all the edits just fine. Alt text edited in the new version disappeared.

doing it on my mac, it seems to vary from listing to listing as to whether it is old editing and new... and there doesn't seem to be a prompt to switch to new from old

Just checked two new listings I posted this afternoon, and the alt text had disappeared on every photograph. I have noticed before that it disappears if I just save the listing, so I have to do it again once published,

I used to add alt text when renewing my listings, but today it seems to have disappeared — there's no alt text box option either. When I renewed a listing two days ago, the option was still there.
