How do I go about selling my item for less than posted? I have had an offer I will accept. I now I can manually lower price but how does that prevent another buyer from getting the item. Thanks..Suzi
@sususprettythings Put a place holder picture into the first picture slot, something like reserved, do not buy.
You can sell at full price and then partially refund in the amount of the discount.
I would alter the price manually, and then put. RESERVED FOR (initials) in the title. Then, in the description I write that it is on hold for a special buyer, blah blah blah.
Give them a deadline to purchase, after which you will revert it back to its original price. I do this because sometimes they never come through....
I always add "RESERVED" at the beginning of the title and description and if another person that it wasn't held for does purchase it I just refund their purchase and explain that the item was reserved.

@sususprettythings You can also create an Etsy Coupon for that person.
CAUTION, BEWARE: Do you offer coupon codes for favorites, return buyers, abandoned carts, etc.? If so, don't lower the price in the listing. Instead, make a coupon code for the discount and give them the code. Discontinue it after the purchase.
WHY? If you simply lower the listing price, and the buyer has a coupon code, they can use both. Which could be a much bigger discount than you actually want to give. But they can only use one coupon code per purchase.
This protects you from either giving too much of a discount, or having a difficult conversation, and potentially completely losing the sale.
Anyway, just something to consider.
@sususprettythings All great solutions, above. I just wanted to point out the possibility of an Offsite Ad fee, which you won't know until after the sale, and could possibly wipe out any profit. Unless you are 100% sure you have opted out +30 days.
Don't make it an open ended deal. Give them a coupon with a 24 hour expiration date.
If someone else buys it at full price, it is much better for you than selling it at a reduced price.
THIS. Very good point.
What is a place holder picture?
@ChainedandTangled A listing cover photo that doesn't show the item. It may say Custom Listing or Reserved. I use my logo.
That keeps someone else from seeing the item and purchasing it.
