Hello,
While I was logged in to my Etsy shop (replying to a customer's message), I suddenly had the screen say "You have been blocked." I was using an up to date Google Chrome browser at the time. I have to be able to respond to customer's messages in a timely manner and have been "blocked" from logging in for hours.
I am unable to login to my Etsy shop (or view the Etsy website at all) on Google Chrome and instead I get the "You have been blocked" message on a white background when attempting to access the Etsy.com website.
I tried different browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) on a computer and on a phone, and nothing was working. I tried Safari again just now and was finally able to use Safari to login to the Etsy forums to post. This has been going on since this morning. Tried contacting Etsy support and can't do so when I get the "You have been blocked" when attempting to log in.
Please help unblock the Etsy website so I can log in to my shop.
Thank you in advance for your help with this issue.
A common problem with the newest Chrome update.
Clear your cookies and history, restart your computer.
Search the Forum for other similar threads - there are many:

The rate limiting and JS error is an Etsy bug in their frontend code. Has nothing to do with Chrome. They need to push an update out to fix it. Clearing cookies and your steps just ends up taking enough time for the rate limiting to clear until you leave it open again - purely coincidence.
This is happening to me on Firefox
This has happened to me twice. Once on Friday and once on Saturday. Both times replying to a convo. Both times I was on my Amazon Fire Tablet, Silk browser.
I believe you're right not a Chrome issue like so many others are saying, since it 's happening on different browsers. I think it's an Etsy issue too.
I don't know about this technical stuff, but you sound very knowledgeable.
Too bad you dont work at Etsy & can fix it for them. Be nice to get something fixed for a change; Etsy can be so slow at fixing errors.
It is happening to a lot of people today, including my shop
@RendekWoodworking I know Forum Admins read these posts, but I wonder if it would help to "at" one of them. Hope it's OK to try.
@ModFabio, The Forums are filled with too many current Threads with people who are receiving "BLOCKED" when sending Messages. All of a sudden, this is happening. As RendekWoodworking said, it could very well be a coding problem. I'm not having this issue, but others are, and they are trying to do workarounds.
Can you please assist, or pass this along to someone who can. Thank You in advance.

Leaving text open in the reply block repeatedly makes calls to https://www.etsy.com/api/v3/ajax/member/conversations/detail/CONVO_ID/custom-order-builder until you are blocked. You can view this inside the developer tools and network requests tab.
Deleting browser history, updating Google Chrome in settings and relaunching the browser seems to work -for now...
@FabioMcMustache Yesterday, I tagged you (in my above post, which includes the links to Threads of those having issues with BLOCKED). But I just noticed I tagged you incorrectly (the line didn't appear under your name). My apologies. Here is the post:

Getting this message on several browswer when trying to access my home page. I can still see my shop in search and can access orders, etc.
Why? Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention.
There are various possible explanations for this:

@MollyMcShabby: This forum is full of reports of this. Other threads have some possible workarounds. https://community.etsy.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?filter=location&q=blocked&location=forum...
This particular issue has been reported for at least three years and has sporadically affected many sites and all browsers - and have never seen a real solution.
The same thing just happened to me!
Suddenly my access to my shop is blocked!!! Why? What to do?
Use a different browser or clear your browser history
What message are you getting? are you using a vpn? new browser? Received email from etsy?
@heavyistheheart Over the last week or so, many sellers have posted the same problem. Seems to be a browser problem
Can it be a browser problem if it happens in Chrome, Firefox and Safari?
And it only happens with the Etsy site?
My favorite reason is that I am browsing faster than Etsy assumes is humanly possible. I assume they mean "at my age".
My second favorite is that there is a robot hiding in the closet.
Those are definately reasons worth considering, lol. I shut it down for a while, came back and It had resolved itself… but no explanation.
I got that last night.. I closed that window and opened a new window in the same browser ( Safari) and got into my acct like normal.
This has been happening to me on and off the past 3 days, I am super busy and it is so frustrating, I hope Etsy fixes it soon.
Same here -it seems to be an issue today. No reply from support yet
We have so many issues and have to figure out work arounds as sellers. It makes me wonder how many buyers play the work around game before giving up and not making a purchase. Etsy technical issues are probably costing sellers across the platform millions in sales every day due to technical issues.
Its tough enough to get someone to click buy. Making the checkout process filled with issues is a problem. Part of that checkout process is asking questions sometimes.
Widespread issue. It will fix by itself or try pressing Shift+Ctrl+R on Windows or Shift+Cmd+R on Mac to reload the page without cache.
The answers here are not the correct answers and someone merged my previous thread with the root cause from network inspector and ways to reproduce it. Open up etsy support tickets until they fix this.
