You Have Been Blocked

Hey everybody

I was responding to a message a customer sent today. I clicked send, and I am now sent to a page that says

"You have been blocked"

Why? Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention.

There are various possible explanations for this:

•  You are browsing and clicking at a speed much faster than expected of a human being.
•  Something is preventing JavaScript from working on your computer.
•  There is a robot on the same network (IP #) as you.

None of these are true, I am NOT using TOR, VPN's anything different than what I have used for Etsy the last 3 years. Account is not compromised, etc. Not sure why this happened, right when I went to send a message.

This is happening on a PC/browser

This is only happening on etsy.com frontend or the seller dashboard.

If a someone you sent a message to then puts your message in SPAM-- then I believe that blocks you from contacting them again. I would not think it should happen on a current order.. but if it did-- then I would cancel that order ASAP..lol. Not a good sign for sure.

If this person is just a random person who contacted you and you have nothing else- then I would consider it a glitch on Etsy and ignore it. Etsy convos IMO have been acting screwy for a couple weeks now at least for me. ( yes have reported it).

I never responded to them. They sent me a message, I was responding, I hit send and thsi happened. I never send unsolicited messages. EVER

This was the 1st communication w/ this person

Did you ever get this figured out?  I just had the same thing happen.  I get the "you are blocked" message when I try to view certain Etsy pages.  ???  I was trying to use Etsy chat to help, but they stopped responding once they said they would get a human customer service rep...

Just happened to me but I had Etsy open in another tab and I was able to access my shop.

I have just had it happen to me too. 

Doing my normal work, on my normal laptop, and I am getting the "You have been blocked" 

I can't access anything, and the help chat is stuck on an agent will be with you momentarily.

I had this happen a few months ago and the fix for me was clearing my cache, updating my computer (Mac,Safari) and restarting. I haven't run into it since.

As I mentioned, I cannot cancel any orders, do anything. I don't have access to any of my backend. Etsy is still allowing orders to come in (so they can make money atleast) and I can't see a single thing. This was a message about an order to be

@PrevntProducts   Your shop is open so it souns like your computer or phone.  Whatever device you use. Try rebooting,  Try cleaning out cache and cookies.  Try a different browser.

I cannot contact Etsy support and seemingly can't @ moderators. If someone would @modFabio I would appreciate it

There is no way for me to log out, change passwords, contact support, anything, just this "you are blocked" screen anytime I go to Etsy

There have been issues with the messenger during the past week where replies have not registered and has affected the stats of some sellers. I wonder if this could be a related glitch.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I just clicked into Etsy from my browser and it came up with the blocked screen like you described. This was on my desktop. I could still get in on the phone app. There was a place on the blocked screen that you could click to send in for review or contest or something. I'm old and my brain cells can't remember exactly what it said, but I clicked on that and followed instructions. I was unblocked a couple of hours later. Do you have another access to Etsy (phone app, desk top, tablet)? If you do, try that.

Not a laughing matter I know but Lol." I guess Chrome is dead to me now". Etsy's a head shaker some days.

I'd troubleshoot starting with my computer and browser ...

When I troubleshoot mysteries like yours, it's always the last thing I try that fixes it.

1. Reboot computer.

2. Reboot internet router. 

3. Clean out cookies and cache.

4. Make sure browser is latest version.

5. Run a virus check.

6. If there have been recent updates to your software, especially a browser, revert to previous restore point (hopefully you have one).

7. Try a different browser.

What browser are you using?

My shop access went screwy around a week ago.  I was in the middle of editing a listing, when suddenly nothing worked.  I got a java error any time I tried to access the site.

My page and Etsy were still up when I clicked on my IG link back to the shop.

I updated my browser,  and that immediately fixed the problem.

I think Etsy IT has been messing with coding, which is causing issues with some browsers.

Happened to me a few mins ago as I was replying to a customer. Clearing Etsy cookies on my browser (chrome) fixed it for me.

Just happened to me as well (in my other shop... where I'm 100% blocked)... BLOCKED as I was clicking SEND to reply to a customer (and lordy, it was a message I really cringe to think about having to recreate... I put that much time and thought into it).

Tried some of my other etsy screens... just completely blocked. Going to try clearing the cache (along with lighting a candle and having a stiff drink)

Update:
Clearing cache and cookies for etsy did the trick. In my case I actually needed to restart my computer... but it's good to do that every once in a while anyways. The GOOD news is, my complicated message to the customer was sent before I got blocked. By the time I got things cleared and was able to get back into messages I'd already had a reply, too. 
Yup... a drink sounds good. Got to be cocktails hour somewhere, right??

If you are using Chrome or Safari, this has been happening to people. Clear cache and cookies and restart the browser to see if that helps. It has worked for others.
