I mistyped the tracking number on an order, and by the time I realized it, it was too late to change. So I followed the “rules” and contacted the buyer and made a private note with the correct number. The item arrived, and the buyer even left a 5 star review. Here’s the rub: that order is still sitting as Pre-Transit. How do I remove or revise it? Ok to simply click cancel order? Will it go away by itself at some point? I cannot find any specific guidance for a situation like this. Help if you can. Thanks!
If you cancel the sale, the buyer will receive a full refund.
Maybe someone else will respond regarding how to fix the pre-transit situation, but it might be something that Support could possibly adjust.
The only way would be if you could get Etsy support to remove it from your open order page. Otherwise it will stay there as the number is incorrect.
In the future--remember if you buy Etsy labels the order number is automatically filled. If you buy labels elsewahere (I buy sometimes on Pirateship) I do a cut and paste of the number (I have made mistakes typing label numbers in the past). Also, if you make a mistake you do have, I believe, 3 days in which you can edit it.
@MBLegacy: Customer Satisfaction and Star Seller is based on the data entered into the actual order and unfortunately Etsy will probably take the position that you had 72 hours to review and correct the tracking information. The order won't go away as such, but will stop being included in statistics once it is no longer in the three month review period.
There's nothing you can do now.
I had it happen where I put the tracking number under the wrong carrier. Instead of USPS, I chose FEDEX, so it didn’t show delivery. I talked to CHAT and after verifying the tracking number status they marked it delivered.
@HomesewnDesigns I 100% agree with you. The same thing happened to me. After the order showed Delivered and the customer left a review, I contacted etsy support. They changed it from in-transit to Delivered.
Check the order to see if you have the option to "add a package" then put the correct tracking number. It will show then as delivered. I saw this option on an order recently that I had already shipped. I think it's something new.
that's not a good ideas as it will now show late shipping.....
last year (or was it before then) when Etsy changed their tracking provider, many international shippers tracking was not recognised, and orders stayed as pre-transit. However, star seller status was not affected, but tracking was possible manually if tracking numbers were correct. The pre-transit status did not seem to be a problem
