I use the domestic/everywhere else pricing tool to give my US customers lower prices without the tax I have to charge Canadians.
Woke up today and my 'everywhere else' prices on a bunch of listings are randomly changed. Not all of them, just randomly 5-6 listings per page.
The prices are $1.01, $1.84, $1.95, $2.01, $2.34, $2.95, etc., MORE than what the price was when I went to bed. I didn't change them.
If you're using this tool/feature, check your prices!
Thank You for the Heads Up. It doesn't even make sense that people have to backtrack every listing, because of erroneous pricing changes which the Seller did not make.
None of this stupid form makes sense.
When this was happening, I just used the old form and it was fine and didn't happen. Some thought that when the old form was removed, this would automatically fix itself. Apparently not.
You're right, we shouldn't have to be scouring our listings for errors that we aren't making for ourselves.
Etsy said the problem was fixed ... it's not!
I just sold 2 items, each $10 less than the price I had them listed at!
Somehow my prices changed overnight ... not by me!
Etsy owes me money back due to their glitchy new listing form!!!
Check your prices ... and keep rechecking!
Make sure you actually get your 20 dollars back and not 20 dollars in credit so you can list more stuff here..
Wow, another issue to review for existing listings on this nightmare of a form. Thanks for the heads up.
Sorry to ask this question – I believe it's been touched on in other threads, but I can't seem to get a straight answer. I sell vintage, so if I copy a listing and need to change the decade, I can't find this feature on the new form (and now the old one is gone!). Is it there, or just another missing feature that still has to be added?
Many thanks!
Yes you can change it, I had the same issue and a kind person in forums told me how. On the listing form there is a row along the top that has ‘details’ , click on that and there is a box that says ‘physical item’ , you can edit it from there. Well done Etsy for pointlessly hiding another previously easy fix.
Everyone who has a pricing issue that costs them money, make sure to file a ticket and demand a refund. Keep the facts simple and straightforward. Be persistent. And report back when you do get a refund!
Cindy, if you haven't ready my reply, scroll down. I have no way of knowing if I lost sales or not.
@NapkinNook Some people are having sales go through at lower prices than intended, so they have easy proof of money lost.
I saw that Cindy, but I'm wondering how many Canadian sellers had their Canadian prices completely disappear, and they just haven't noticed it yet. If they're not checking their shop they could be in for a rude awakening. Surely I can't be the only one.
@NapkinNook this has been going on for 13 months now, so I would hope most non-US sellers using the domestic pricing tool would be aware of the potential issues. There have been many threads, and I have discussed it several times in my news updates.
That said, there are also pricing issues for people who have never used the tool, and some are in the US, so there are now multiple pricing problems, it would appear.
The problem with updated prices not showing on the live listing was fixed for me a few hours before the old form went poof.
I just found another seller report it is now working for them too.
I am starting to think another piece of software might be involved in the dual pricing problem. Tomorrow I plan to run some tests using a couple of my live listings. What could possibly go wrong, haha.
I am going to ask for a refund for nearly 10 months worth of losses (I opened my ticket back in October 2023). What proof did Etsy need from you before you were able to get a refund?
What about ongoing losses? Should I just continue to record losses and ask for another refund down the road?
Thanks!
Thanks so much @MaggieandRose.
Never would have thought it was located there. I thought the "Change" meant switching from a Physical item to Digital.
This form – not intuitive at all.
No, it’s ridiculous isn’t it.
Item price, shipping price and/or either one or both at the same time? Important data points for others to report also would be country shipped from, domestic or internationally shipped etc, as we discern just how invasive Etsy is deigning itself to be in running our shops for us.
Isn't this a step too far, if indeed this new form has such invasive qualities, by design? If so, we need to know exactly how it is being operationalized, in order to best keep our boundaries between our business's and Etsy's Corporate concerns, yes?
@Marpet3425
It is the item prices, not the shipping prices.
It is my prices for US customers only. I am in Canada.
The poster above whose prices were undercharged $10 is in the US. It's not mentioned if they are using the pricing tool as well or not.
A US customer bought two items at 1:53am and one item had the wrong price - an additional $2.84 added. The old form was still active at that time because I was up til 2am and had doubled checked to see if it was gone or not. This design sold recently at the correct price to another US shopper.
This was a problem identified in 2023 when using the domestic/everywhere else pricing tool and their solution was to just use the old form, so without that option, what now?
Even when I would change the prices back in the new form, they would revert again or others would revert at random, to different prices. So that is my problem, because even when you spend the time to change everything back, it just happens again and again.
EDITED: Just to add too, that some of the listings that changed prices are ones that have not been sold or touched in a while, nor ever opened in the new listing form.
Thanks for your very informative response. Messing with item price is even more so concerning.
Don't know what to tell you or others similarly affected, other than turning off domestic/everywhere else pricing. That and rebooting after a security scan and cache clean out, etc. You have my deepest empathy for how utterly frustrating and time wasting this is!
These are important points to report to Etsy, as you, and we seek solutions to further issues this boondoogle of an unfinished and deeply flawed systems change with this now forced error of a listing form.
In the meantime, my trust in Etsy has been further deeply damaged with this forced error by Etsy. Until this form is more trustworthy, I'm won't further post shop items. Boycotting until they can deliver a workable, safe, reliable, and functional site, with a fully vetted and fixed listing form.
FIX IT Or FORGET IT !
@Marpet3425
Unfortunately because I have to add tax in my domestic prices since Etsy took that tool away from us, I have to have different prices for US and Canadian shoppers.
Its just absolutely asinine that they would get rid of something that worked for something that has so many issues that are actually detrimental to shop owners, with known issues they didn't bother to fix for a year. The most important and knowledgeable team at Etsy should be their tech team and yet, here we are.
I spoke with chat and they have logged a support ticket and told me not to change anything yet and not to issue refunds yet because I told them that really they should be refunding customers because it's their error, not mine. But I'm just suppose to leave everything wrong?
Thank the Lord I have my own website and will continue to direct my repeat customers and followers there instead until this is fixed.
@PoochandTabby
We don't have access to that pricing tool in the US, so that seller's issue must be different than yours. Multiple pricing glitches -- yay!
OMG! Face palm...on Etsy's not adequate response. Not that they didn't already know that!
@Adorabilities
Fabulous. This site gives me a headache.
Oh my God, I thought it was just me. I'm a Canadian sellers and two days ago I suddenly realized that my domestic price on some of my items, not all of them, had suddenly disappeared. There was no price to be found. All my U.S. prices were intact, but about 15 of my listings had no Canadian price, and I certainly didn't do that. If you're a Canadian seller check your shop, as those prices just up and disappeared, seemingly overnight.
An easy way to track for price errors is on the listing page. you can sort low to high.
