Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

Hi

I’ve been trying to troubleshoot this mobile device glitch. Every time I contact etsy though they have an odd way of deflecting the situation altogether.

they’ve told me to go through the basic troubleshooting steps being clear cookies cache etc. all of which has already been done. Then they ignore that there’s an issue with mobile and assure me on desktop it’s working fine.

well that wouldn’t be an issue if everyone used desktop exclusively but that’s not the case. I’ve shown screen shots and screen recordings yet Etsy chooses to take now accountability and offer no insight or even reassurance that they are ever even going to forward to to their IT department to have it corrected.

can someone please leave any feedback on what reporting this issue has resulted in for you?

I know this is an ongoing problem for multiple users but I’m at a loss for how to deal with this.

I’ve had zero sales this month and ideally would like to be compensated my listing fees via credit considering it isn’t operating on a functional level.

There’s no way that Etsy can just let this continue without actually acknowledging a problem. It’s becoming sickening.

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

I think sometimes when there is a glitch many come to the forums in the belief they are reporting what is happening to Etsy because people are told to post in the forums by support and until Etsy gets enough actual error reports from sellers the glitch is not looked at in depth and they say its a devise problem.

From what I have seen and read the more reports they get the quicker things get moving. Of course they don't make it easy either to report issues.

Thats just my opinion.

Etsy only really seems to fix problems when it effects the ability to purchase. If it's a seller issue that just makes life more difficult, they leave it forever.

I tried reporting it last night via chat, but all the operatives were busy so I gave up waiting . I will try again today when I’ve got time.

@WhatElseIsNewVintage

You can't run your shop from the app, it has always had problems, and missing bits, whatever version
apps are additional layers between the program and the user, so they will always be less functional.

whatever the bugs are in the selling app, it has no affect on sales

You don't need a desktop, you can use a browser on your mobile device, and bypass the app

What's the glitch?

When you actually reach a human on Etsy, they are reading from a script and have limited knowledge of Etsy.

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

I think the OP is referring to this - multiple shop pages missing -

https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Not-all-my-items-are-viewable-in-shop-Page-numbers-gl...

It's definitely happening in their shop, and not just on mobile (I see it on my laptop).  Unless there is a separate glitch on mobile?

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

Thank you for updating me that it’s also occurringon your laptop. As far as I was aware it was mainly only on mobile browsers.I’ve spoken to numerous people about it. The first person copy pasted something about region restrictions. The next one seemed to understand what I was saying but she forwarded it onto a team specialist. The team specialistsummarized it as Etsy is taking into consideration all your feedback and it’s going to be forwarded on to our product team and then funnelled to our executiveteam lol whatever that means. But at no point did they mention that they could see the glitch themselves. They just kept telling me to try basic troubleshooting methods like clear my cache and cookies etc.

I hope somebody takes accountability at some point. I don’t want to ad listings anymore and I feel like a free listing period is warranted considering the scope of how many users are experiencing it.

Crazy to me they didn’t already have that as a promotion for us having to put up with all these headaches of adapting to this new app and all of its bugs as everything is updated. You’d think the smart thing to do would be run a promotion that stimulates activity and use it as a stress test to monitor the software.

I just find the verbiage to all their response absolutely priceless though “allowing us to assist you in the best way we know how” haha that to me is gold.

Etsy maybe it’s time you learn new ways to assist us? You know ones where you don’t have to click through 9 pages to get an actual link to support. Would also be fun if they didn’t have to resend said email to 8 different levels like it’s a multilevelmarketing pyramid we’ll never reach the top of.

really hope someone else gets an intelligible response that implies they have IT department currently looking into it.

This is happening to us too. Shows we have 6 pages which is incorrect, then will show 8, then says page 10 out of 8 when there arent even 10 pages.. and doesnt show anything after 6 for us. I know that sounds confusing but point is something is very wrong.

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

The app is not perfect.  It is conflicting with many devices even for the buyer app.  That is why for consistency it is better to use the web on a mobile device rather than the app.

@ArtDollsbyJD

Buyers who view your shop, using the mobile device view, are currently unable to see your last six listings on page three of what your shop displays on Desktop view.

On the mobile version, page 3 has no listings.

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

@SmudgePlant   I know that.  That's why I don't use the app.  It lacks a great deal.

I am well aware that pages are missing on the app.  I'm not going to go over this with Etsy because it has been a problem off and on for years.

It's why I always suggest to mobile users to use the web version.

I'm not talking about the app and neither is the OP.

We are talking about using a browser on a mobile device. Exactly what you suggest.

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

I think what some people don't realize in this thread is that it's not just us that don't see all of our pages when using a mobile browser, it's Buyers not seeing all of our pages.

What happened to Etsy's  whole "Meet our customers where they are" bit?

Not everyone wants to load up an App when they want to buy something.

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

I’ve asked three people to look at my shop on their iPhones and they each see a different number of items. None see all of them. They’re all in the UK and all items are available for sale in the UK, so it’s not a geographical issue.
I suggest sellers reading this check their shops on mobiles and count the number of items they can see and compare with their actual listings total. I suspect a lot of sellers aren’t aware of this issue.

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

I've just been on chat to the Etsy help team.

The first 2 operatives disconnected from me, but the 3rd stayed and she could see that although I have 100 active listings, she could only see 99. (Others can only see 78, or 96, or 88  of them etc). Anyway, she said she's going to get the technical team to look into it and email me back in due course.

I'll update if and when there's any news.

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

This is happening to me too. @IceMaidens and I have tested each other’s and she sees only about half my items. I see 88 of hers rather than 100.

It’s NOT the app - it’s looking at our shops on a browser on a mobile. This means at least some potential buyers are only seeing some of our items if they go to browse our shops (which a lot do at least in my case).

Re: Why is Etsy Support ignoring interface glitch on mobile devices?

@CatsWhiskersCurios  Just wanted you to know.  I went into your Shop, counted 161 items showing *(desktop computer, Chrome, Windows 10).

But as you said, it's happening to others (a browser on a mobile).  We have no idea what various Buyers are viewing.

It's happening to me also! Page 5 to 6 in my store just disappeared! Talked to etsy help and they told me it's my device problem but it isn't! My sales are down and I'm very worried!

@MyCupTeaMiniatures  I counted your items; I'm seeing 100 *(desktop computer, Chrome, Windows 10).

But that doesn't matter. You and others are seeing differently.  So bottom line is, we have no idea what various Buyers are viewing.
