Shop Advisor, "What's new on etsy this spring"...Faster photo uploads, photo filters, see how latest updates can help manager your Shop."
I clicked onto the Tab, "What's New"; Instagram started loading. I closed out (I do not use social media).
*Why does this Announcement in our Shop Dashboard lead to Instagram? I don't particularly care to be taken out of my Shop and into Instagram, upon reading an Announcement.

My apologies; I have to leave the computer, but I will check back later.
I saw the same thing. I immediately hit the back button
same here! I don't do Instawhatever or any social media whatsoever with any online selling aside of using Facebook Marketplace for local selling....
@ChillwolfArt: 'Why' is anyone's guess but the link clearly is a direct to Instagram URL. Maybe they are trying to take some of the load off of their servers?
I noticed this a while back. I'm not a fan. I do the same as @NanaLetha
Thank You for your input. I just received the "What's new on Etsy" (Shop Advisor), today. I can see this Announcement directing us to the Seller's Handbook, as well as to today's Community Announcement. But I do not care to be taken out of my Shop, and onto social media.
I am not a fan either.
I don't have that in my dashboard yet... but when I hover over all of the buttons on your link, the links say they are for canva .com... but they go to Instagram & the handbook?! Someone posted the Instagram video link in another thread. The Etsy rep is touting how wonderful the new dashboard is. Really confused since I'm not sure what they are bragging about. They took away features, made fonts smaller, & added another click to see activity.
@CanningCrafts Here is the article, "See what's new," from the Seller's Handbook.
I don't understand re: "the links say they are for canva .com". The link I posted in the OP is for the Community Newsletter (which was posted today).
@ChillwolfArt On my browser, if I hover my mouse over the buttons, the link that shows is for canva. If I control click to copy the URL it is for https://www.canva.com/link?target=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Fseller-handbook%2Farticle%2F136499191...
But if I click the actual button on the community newsletter, it goes to the Etsy handbook I guess with a redirect? But that URL on canva has a note that it is an external link going to the Etsy handbook. It's convoluted & makes no sense. If you control click & copy the link address on any of the buttons on the newsletter, you'll see what I mean.
@CanningCrafts Good grief; what the devil. I posted this Thread in Tech. Issues because I thought maybe the Instagram direct could possibly be accidental. But noooo.
I deliberately shut down all my META platforms in January-it took me over 7 mins manually unchecking each OFF META tracking cookie they had on me. Records of every time I logged into my shop-my credit card-my bank-Amazon, all harvested by META. So no-I'm not going on Instagram or Facebook or X for ANY updates from anyone thanks. That was a back button for me too.
Well, this is lovely. For the first time ever, I received a "Message" from a Spammer. I tried to Mark as Spam. I could see nothing in the bloody options which allowed me to do it. Turns out, after selecting the Message of course, I had to select "Report" at the top of where Messages are. Why on earth does it not say "Report as Spam" (rhetorical Q).
I first tried selecting the Message, then selecting "Spam" (to the Left). This did not put the Message in the Spam folder (it remained in the Inbox). I brought my husband over. He could see nowhere to Mark this Message as Spam. Finally, I discovered "Report." Selected it and the Message went in the Spam Folder. This is the first time I've ever had to use this, but I sure can see how new Sellers can get confused. Good grief.
(I did not want to start a new Thread re: the following F.Y.I.):
As I stated in the above post, the "Report" Message was the very first Spam/Scam Message I had ever received. The person said Hello and addressed me by name.
And the hits keep on comin'. Today, a Message appeared in the "Spam" Folder ("Hello" in the Subject Line, body of the Message is empty).
So in 5 days (since the start of this Thread), I've received two Spam/Scam Messages, when I never had them before. I don't believe in coincidence. In my OP, I said I clicked onto the "See what's new" Tab, to read the Announcement. When I saw the Instagram logo, I quickly closed out. The first Spam/Scam Message showed up shortly after I posted the OP. And now today, a second Spam/Scam Message. I can't even imagine what new Sellers go through.
Etsy would like sellers to promote more on social media. Perhaps in a roundabout way this is Etsy's way of enticing them to at least think about it. Or remind them that its out there. In a sorta subliminal way.
