I got a one star review a while back and even though I have had other 5 star reviews that one star keeps showing up at the top of my listings page under reviews. When does it move off? Why are the newer reviews not taking it's place?
It'll eventually move down. I had a three star review remain at the top of my page for about a month.
There are numerous on going threads about this.
Reviews with lots of words, and a click "to see more" button seem to be given higher ranking in review placement than other reviews. Other than that the other reasons are only speculations by us.
There are two other Forum threads on this topic. You might want to read those instead of starting from scratch trying to figure things out.
@nineteen27 Just like my 5 star reviews from 2012 that sit atop of my reviews for current listings don't matter either.
It goes both ways, I think.
@nineteen27 Oops, nesting error. I meant to nest below yours.
Because Etsy has decided that it is more fair to buyers to show the range of reviews you have received, no matter how old bad reviews may be...in some cases years ago. It is an absolutely stupid move on their part.
If they knew what they were doing, and wanted to provide that info easily to a buyer, they would use a bar system like everyone else does showing the number of reviews for each star, and the buyer could click on what ever number of stars they wanted to check out. But when has Etsy ever known what it was doing?
Didn't they test a bar system previously. I wonder why they didn't go with that.
they did!
and i liked it mostly.
but it needed work and they really do not need to show a negative review from 2013.
they should go back a year or so... not for all time.
Good question, though have heard having non 5 star every now & then demonstrates authenticity. Especially if it’s for something outside your control
I think that is the point Etsy is trying to make. Many sellers don't like how Etsy is going about it. There are 2 long threads on this topic in the forum.
Well apparently this is not just a problem in my shop but others as well. Seems Etsy would lose more revenue by people not buying from our shops because of an outdated bad review. I am just going to respond to all my reviews for the last few months and see if that helps.
