Hello- happy Sunday
My vintage shop has barely had any orders this year. I just noticed despite having no new reviews or much activity, the 5 star has gone down. I get it is an average when you are selling, but if there is not much activity/sale in a shop, why should the average go down? Just because you are not selling doesn’t mean you are a bad seller or provide bad customer service or ship late! I am not selling because my Etsy traffic has just tanked by 80%, that is it.
Has anyone experienced the ratings going down when no sales are happening and gone up when selling again? Thx
If you mean the star rating on your shopfront, that is calculated on the past 365 days only. Reviews drop out of the calculation after that period.
If you mean your Star Seller rating, that is only on the current 3 month assessment period, IE July, Aug, Sept.

star seller is determined by the past 3 months so if you haven't been selling much it will go down with no new reviews. Not really fair like you said its not that you are a bad seller just not selling a lot.
The review stars expire after 12 months so it is likely that some 5 stars fell out of the equation and you must already have some lower than 5 in the past 12 months so it has recalculated to less than 5 overall.

Thanks everyone, I meant the rating and didn’t know it is only valid for 1 year.
I think this policy is fraud. Removing someones rating because of a drop in sales, is B.S. Very deceptive business practice. I went from 5 stars to zero. So I get no traffic to my store. No sales, yet ETSY continues to collect fees. I see a pattern here. Such as them saying add a video It'll help exposure, or give us more money to advertise and you'll see more sales. All lies. I noticed when I stopped advertising, they started buring my store.
