A few days ago I contacted etsy about a removal of a review that was unfair and not a review about her current purchase she made in Feb 2024. The whole month of March my reviews are 5 stars. I was assured that review would be removed and my rating would go back up and would because it was not fair and I felt like I was mugged after the ordal was settled with the customer in Feb. However the more I thought about the review the more I realized I need to stand up for myself and get it removed because it was absolutely unfair and extortion as well because she ended getting even more products. I made zero on that order after shipping etc!
A few days later after my request for the removal of the review I get into my account because I have messages from customers I needed to address and I find my review went down even further to a 2.0. WHAT?!! NO WAY! I could not believe it! I went the whole month of march after that review in Feb to now in April drops to a 2.0. It was not right! Either it is a glitch or someone or something is targeting my shop. And I certainly do not want to go there.
There is no way that one review in 14 years of 5 star ratings would bring my average to 2.0. That means it would take 80- to 100 new reviews to get back to 5.0 rating again! Not only that but I find porn suggestions on my shop under the reviews. and on my about page. Which mean either an employee that looked at my account a few days before about the unfair review issue was most likely looking at that garbage or my account was compromised. I was steaming mad at that point and sickened by it!
I requested a phone call from Etsy customer service and not to my surprise the link says etsy phone customer service is no longer available. However 30 minutes later etsy customer service did call. But kept dropping the call. Now I am here after 3 drop of the call.
The other weird thing is the phone call from Etsy the person asked for information to verify my account that I was uncomfortable answering like 4 digit of saved card payment on file, 4 digit of bank account etc, questions that were never asked before on a phone call. But I answered reluctantly. After the calls kept dropping I changed my password and came here to get help. I really need to speak to somone that actually can do something.
I did infact go and like and saved listings to clear the catche of the porn garbage. and clear privacy as well after changing my password.
My star seller score is messed up and I am afraid my shop is being targeted.
the review is their opinion, it's what reviews are for.
It does not qualify for removal, by etsys terms, or legally.
They say it unravelled, you even agreed it would unravel if not handled carefully.
when the stats are re-calculated using mar/april/may, that review will no longer count for star seller
I am sorry about your unfair review but unfair reviews are a part of life. Whenever I get one (and I do get them and try not to lose a night of sleep over them), I do try to get Etsy to remove them and yes, they have once done it whilst they were not supposed to because as far as I was aware it did not breach any rules apart from being very unfair but they did remove it so always try and if you feel up to it, try a few times because it can make a difference which customer service representative gets to handle your case/ticket.
You have replied, that locks it in.
It really isn't a bad review, it wouldn't put anyone off buying from your shop
it says they are lovely, and were treated with care, they just have a problem with the unravelling

for the current review period for star seller in stats, you are looking at Feb/Mar/April for stars, they are calculated over 3 months
in that period, you have only one review, and it is a 2 star review
so it is not messed up, it is 100% accurate
....
the stars top left, for your shop, are 5 star, as they are calculated over the last 12 months.
....
The whole month of March my reviews are 5 stars.
you have no reviews for March
For Star Seller, only those reviews received within the three month assessment period will count. So if you are looking at your current SS ratings they are based on reviews left in Feb, Mar and Apr. For each one star review you receive it takes 19 five star reviews to offset the one star. As April hasn't finished yet, your current status will over reflect reviews for Feb and Mar, and April so far. The fewer reviews you get each month, the harder it is to combat the occasional less than 5 star review. You may have to wait until that review drops off after three months.
April 1st it was not 2.0? I am sorry but its so wrong. One review in feb affect March and April, how is that even possible? NO WAY! Even the customer guy agreed there was no way one review can do that over 3 months. HOW CAN ANYONE RECOVER FROM THAT? I need to talk to someone.
I also want that review removed!
I do not even get 19 reviews a month. Many customer send me email with praise or messages if they do not leave a review. I never force that at all. I like to let customers to leave reviews on their own accord not by coersion by me. It called being organic andbeing real.
You have one review in the whole of Feb/Mar/April, and it's a 2 star review
I have looked at your reviews, they are public, you only have 1 for that period.
it's 100% correct.
When the review is done for Mar/April/may, that 2* will go from the stats calculation
..........
If you told the customer guy, that all your reviews in March were 5 star, like you said here, then that would be their reply,
but you have had NO reviews in March, so you gave them wrong information to base their reply on.
PS: Fourteen years on Etsy I rarely get less than 5 stars. That UNFAIR review will effect my overall sales creating a uphill battle.

I'm trying. This is apart of my family's income and I have a child with special medical needs. My sales in my shops are everything to us.
I do have two shop so I may have been thinking of those reviews too in my head. So when that 2* goes away the review it is still left there public to cause issue with my sales a catch 22 THUS the reason it should be removed. she is reviewing something that is 3yrs old that obviously was not properly cared for and she ened up withmore items after the ordeal. I felt mugged. It was awful ordeal and unfair. So how do I get it removed?
You have replied, that locks it in.

Do you think really think so? I replied after the ordeal because it looks worse if I just left no reply. She did not care for the product as instructed on the package and it is the only reasona 3 year old item would get like that.
Ps. These are organic handspun not machine made so care has to be taken. She was lazy and decided not tofollow the instruction and conned me out of more items. Nah I am not happy. It most certainly is not right. However yall have made me feel better here. I will grin and bare it.
I had a 1 star review on a knitting pattern,
they said they couldn't use it, because they couldn't knit.
I didn't even reply to it, because I couldn't think of anything to say that wouldn't sound sarcastic.
I lost my star seller for 3 months, ........but it did not affect sales, so I wouldn't worry too much about the one.
I was rated 1 star because the item was held up at the sorting office in the US, I live in the Uk and I sent the item tracked and signed with insurance but clearly wasn’t good enough for the customer.literally there was nothing I could possibly do apart from get the customer the phone number of sorting office (which I did by the way)
Etsy cannot remove reviews, that they are not legally allowed to.
and UK law makes it your responsibility, to deliver to the customer in your times.
You need to get governments to change the laws, or learn to live with it
the laws are consumer protection laws, they protect the buyer, not the seller/trader
