So I saw the announcement that the old listing form is being retired because the new listing form has been updated and is far superior to the old one.
I think "Great! They are now showing the shipping costs to various locations just like the old one did. I really need that information when writing listings."
Alas, I cannot find the information on the "new and improved" listing form. It MUST be there and I simply do not see it since you know, this form is superior.
So where is the shipping calculator on the form? If it is on the older version that is inferior, putting it on the newer version should be simple.
As far as I can see, it's not there. Says it's coming soon, but that message has been there for a while.
Regarding shipping cost based on location not available in the new format, where does is say "coming soon" ?
Is there a post somewhere that Etsy commented on this feature?
You mean there's hope?
Totally agree. Why can't I see the shipping costs. Why don't they want me to know? This totally bites.
Same issue here. I spent several hours reading and trying to find that information for the "new form" I can not seem to find it anywhere.
On your dashboard, in HELP, there is a shipping cost calculator. Does that help you at all? I've never tried it.
That is a different type of calculator, to use when you know exactly where a package will be sent.
The old create a listing form showed us what shipping costs would be for any buyer in several areas of the US, (and I guess the world). The seller could adjust their asking price, or consider free shipping based on that critical info. Now...this does not exsist (YET?) in the new format.
No idea where you see anything like that in HELP. I certainly don't have it.
Thanks. Didn't know this was there. But it still won't take the place of seeing the shipping costs on a new listing.
And think how many complained about that silly calculator as you call it. I personally don’t care for being told my shipping is too much.. I know how much my shipping is to start with-without being told it cost x to ship to Chicago vs X to ship to NY.. Etsy can’t please everyone. I am glad not to see it on the new listing format.
How do your know how much your shipping is without being told? There are so many shipping options, prices can vary wildly.
I don't actually need Etsy to tell me how much to charge for postage on anything. I have a postal scale and I can figure it out for myself.
I also use calculated shipping on most of my items and once I create a profile-- I name it for what the item is and don't need to go back to it. Any rate increase and Etsy automatically adjusts for it. If someone buys multiple things-- I refund overages.. which etsy has said that they consider that good customer service and those refunds don't count against shops.
But that all said=- You might like this link-- this has been working for years that I can remember.

I ship gloves and hats that weigh less than 4oz in a 9x12 padded envelope in US that costs between 3.80 and 4.40 approx. so I ship all for 4.25
I read that beginning in Oct if your shipping price is above 6 dollars that you lose out in item placement as viewed by customers. won't this cause fewer and fewer shops to exist. How can I ship east coast to west coast for 6 dollars when my last such shipment was 17.50 which was above my 12.50 price. Everything is getting harder.
I have also been looking for the shipping calculator and am disappointed it is not yet available. I think this feature might be more useful to a vintage seller than a handmade items seller, since the box size and item weight can vary significantly for each vintage item I list. Since I live in South Carolina, and ship everywhere from California to New York, the calculator is very helpful. With it, I can look at the estimated cost to ship an item from SC to California vs. SC to New York (the shipping cost can vary by $20 to $30 or more for a heavier, larger item). The calculator can help me determine if I need to up my price or let the customer pay the shipping. I have been using the new listing form already, except for this feature, and when I get to the Shipping section, I have been saving the listing and switching to the old form just to use the shipping calculator feature. I really would like to see this feature included in the new form.
It seem crazy that we have no info on shipping costs like the old form. That would give me an idea what it will cost in the different parts of the US, there is a huge difference for Vintage and I am assuming any heavy items. Etsy said they were going to include this in the new listing form but yet to see it.
According to the latest announcement from Etsy regarding the new form: shipping cost preview is supposedly "coming soon". But they have been saying that for what---a year now? 4 days till mandatory roll out, I am skeptical. Many sellers don't feel that it's necessary to have this information but for vintage sellers and handmade sellers whose items vary greatly in size and weight it is vital information.
I’m a vintage seller and the knowing the cost to ship is hugely important. Plus sometimes I have entered wrong numbers. In the old form and the total cost was one more place for me edit my listing. Knowing the cost to ship helps me to determine how much to ask for something. We are competing with EBAY…..I’m thinking a bunch of robots are running this company. Or maybe they, the people in charge, are being really passive aggressive and want us all to offer free shipping so they can use it as a marketing tool.
And…. Does the buyer know what it’s going to cost to ship? If so why not us? Do we need to pretend to be a customer in order to see the cost of shipping.
Without shipping on the new form, how are any of you making any listings? I will be needing the fixed costs; is that available?
I've been making notes as I find info here and there on the forums, does this help?
"Shipping profiles:
You don't have to use profiles. Fixed shipping is still there - they just made it harder to find.
Under shipping - select profile - create new. It takes you back to the old way except they have it hidden now."
@TailoringByDebra Thank you so much! I haven’t listed anything for awhile, so I was wondering. Huge help!

Under help there is a link to a shipping calculator

And yes, it is too time consuming to do each item on a separate screen. My workaround for this was to take all my sales for the past few years and calculate how many sales were by which zone. I then took the average of those sales to figure out the middle ground zone for shipment pricing. For me, this has worked well.
OTOH, I will be glad when they finally put the calculator back on the individual item.
Originally, I thought I could live without seeing the shipping cost to various destinations (I've never thought of it as a calculator), but I really am missing this information. I don't think it's connected to the nags about "You're charging too much for shipping" because, if I remember correctly, we had the shipping info for years before the nags started.
I ship everything for free but often change options from USPS to FedEx or UPS. That option is now hidden unless you tap Shipping options* then Edit. and scroll down. Total time consuming pain in the neck.
Considering how many things the programmers like to hide, the shop names, the item descriptions, , the report link, and others, I think they are aiming for Etsy to be all blank pages, and you have to guess at EVERYTHING. It will be a bit like being blind.
