This has occurred a couple of times now. I caught the first one in time but the second time I was too late and could not change it. This means the customer is unable to track their parcel and the order I have sent is stuck in Pre-Transit. I have messaged the customer and I know the parcel will be delivered as I have also checked the tracking number on the Australia Post website.
My question now is about the Pre-Transit status of my order. How will Etsy know the order has been delivered and very importantly, if the status is not changed will I get paid?
Hello, and thanks for your input.
I have found a fix as recommended by a person on a seller support group. She told me that Etsy advised her to "add another package" using the correct carrier and the same tracking number. It worked! So, your suggestion was a winner. Thank you!
You should already have the money, it usually is in your "available to deposit" the next working day and has nothing to do with shipping status (only if you are in reserve, then a valid tracking would release the money otherwise indeed it is held for days).
I have the same issue with the Dutch post office, since over a year already, and had packages stuck in pre-transit too. I have a workaround to ensure it doesn't switch to the wrong one once completing. Before you complete and enter the tracking number chose another (incorrect) shipping provider, then switch back to the correct one (this is before completing) and then it shouldn't switch to the incorrect one. It's tedious and we shouldn't have to do this but unfortunately they haven't put in an effort to fix this glitch which seems to affect Germany, Australia and The Netherlands (perhaps more, but these three I am aware of).
I wonder if you could "add another package" and then select the correct carrier and add the tracking number. Not sure it will take the same number again but you could try...

When I use Aust Post to send a tracked letter, Etsy changes the carrier to Fed Ex. I just have to remember to go in the next day and alter the carrier to Aust Post.
This happened to me a while ago. It was for a 'registered' letter that my husband posted (he misunderstood what I had written down for him). I contacted Etsy and they told me to wait until it was delivered and it 'should' change. It didn't. I kept an eye on it and when it was delivered, I made a note on the order just in case it became a problem. Thankfully it didn't. I use tracked letters all the time and it doesn't seem to happen to those (runs off to check the order I just posted).
If you don't get to edit before the window closes (a couple of days I think), make a note on the order. Once it is delivered, perhaps contact the buyer after a day or two and let them know that the Etsy system is glitching showing Fed-Ex instead of AusPost but you have notated the correct info on their order. There is a test going where Etsy is contacting buyers after the delivery time and asking if they have received their order. By telling the buyer you have notated the correct info, they may think twice about saying 'no' if they were looking for a freebie. I think the test is only for untracked but if Etsy doesn't recognise the tracking, they will consider it untracked.
This has happened to me a few times as well. It is annoying, particularly when you don't catch it in time to be able to update. However, although your customer can't check the tracking on the Etsy site, they can still go to the Australia Post website and enter the tracking number there to check where the parcel is.
It should not affect when Etsy pays you unless you are on reserve for your payments. If you are on reserve, then you will have to wait the 45 days for the money to be released.
