Before, when a customer requests a cancellation (before shipping) and I cancelled, I had to manually put the item back into stock but this morning I received a cancellation request and it appears that the item was automatically put back into stock? Is this new or am I missing something?
When using shopify I get the question to say yes or no to this option, which works fine for me but to have it done automatically is just as annoying as when not, now I have to think to check whether I want it back in stock or not.
Am I the only noticing this?
I haven't cancelled one for a while so I don't know if it's new functionality or a temporary glitch.
It used to be that we had to renew the listing ourselves. Etsy wouldn't know if we cancelled an order because the item broke while packing it etc. so it should be up to the seller to either choose whether to relist it or to make them manually do it.
I only had one to cancel now so cannot check it again but I only noticed it because this was a refund/cancellation before it had shipped out so I wanted to put it back into stock but saw that it was already in stock.
I just double checked and I only had one of this item in stock so the fault is not my side.
I totally agree that the seller should be the one to decide that's why I like the functionality in Shopify where you can tick a box to get it back into stock or not.
The last one I cancelled ( ordered in error), I received a full refund of fees including the listing fee, so I had to put it back in stock myself. That was about two weeks ago.
This is what I am used to indeed, but it is not what happened today. I don't hope to have any cancellations again soon but in my shop they seem to be part of every day life, people ordering something by accident and as such it happens. I will take a good and careful look at my cancellations from now on.
Perhaps it was a glitch, that could also be, with Etsy you never know...
Stranger things have happened. I'll keep an eye out for this next time.
Was this an item that you had multiple quantities of?
I had a cancellation a couple of weeks ago and it was not automatically out back in stock so I had to renew it.
