I tried to print out the packing receipt for a customer tonight and instead got a 'Enjoy your gift from Etsy' Message printed along with my customers name and a picture of my item.
I do not have any offer on at all, so am unaware where this has come from.
Any ideas anyone?
Susie.
Did the buyer mark the item as a gift?
This is what happens in my shop when the item was marked as a gift and the buyer didn't actually include a gift message.
That's a gift receipt. The buyer marked it as a gift and that is what you send instead of the regular packing slip.
I personally hate that Etsy allows something to be marked as a gift but allows no gift message to be made.
At the very least the actual buyers name should be displayed to US, the shop owner. I get a lot of orders where it's marked as a gift and shipped to the same name as the purchaser. That is always a head scratcher since I have no idea if the person who bought thought it would come gift wrapped so they can gift on their own or being sent to a recipient.
I also find it annoying that if no gift message is included, it reads as the gift is from Etsy themselves.
Enjoy your gift from Etsy!
I added gift packaging only to show that unless it's selected, it won't be coming wrapped like a gift.
It's confusing and the onus is on the shop to decide if to include the crappy gift receipt with the photo.
It's irritating that I have to ponder this with every order marked as a gift, no gift wrapping selected and the "buyer" name is the same as the purchaser. It's a toss up who this actually comes from and leads to confusion.
I think Etsy loves that the implication is they were the ones who so generously sent a gift to a random person. I also think it's deliberate. The shop name is tiny and easily overlooked.
I find it a waste of time to have to answer messages about who actually sent a gift. Especially if all I am given is the buyer/recipient. I look like an idiot when I have to answer, "I have no idea who sent you this widget that has my copyright". I should say, ask everyone you know. lol
Did have one recently where the name of the recipient was given but a request to send anonymously was included in the notes section. I fully expect that person who gets it will wonder who sent it and I'll have to simply say...the sender of your gift was Sign in With Apple User. : )
Yeah, that won't make me look like an incompetent idiot.
@LittleheavenArt Buyer marked your sold item as a "gift". It's an automated template that Etsy uses. If the buyer left a message for the recipient of the gift this is where it would appear.
Many times people will buy stuff for themselves and request a gift receipt ... that way prices are hidden when package is opened. You can always print both -- gift receipt & the packing slip order receipt with no prices showing -- and then add both to the order being shipped out so that ALL information is shown to buyer/receiver.
