What is going on at etsy? Not good

So, I have shipped an item, with tracking, yet etsy says the shipping is “pre transit”, yet it was shipped within hours of being ordered and has ARRIVED, but etsy says it is “pre transit”. And it will disrupt my star seller status.

Etsy is doing also some weird changes that are ridiculous. They are hiding information on an item, essentially burying it so that a buyer has to work hard to find the info. It’s like they hired someone to go in and fix things not broken. 

Just what’s going on at etsy? #regretsy.

Can you go to your sold items page and specifically input the tracking number and mark the Order as Complete? I don't use Etsy shipping so I do that all by hand. It works.

It's not uncommon for shipments to remain in "Pre-Transit" status after they have been marked complete on Etsy and have arrived at their destination.  This doesn't affect our star seller data.

Yes, I do it all manually and cross check by using the iPhone app where you can take a photo of the receipt and when you highlight the tracking number it takes you directly to the usps tracking. Then I copy/paste the number directly from the USPS website because I have messed the number when typing the numbers in. 

The etsy support did respond that it was on their end and I was not the only one affected. But they just corrected it. It was a frustrating runaround but they did correct it just now.

No, it won't.  The star seller bots note whether and when we enter a valid tracking number and mark the order complete, nothing more.  They don't note anything about the shipping or delivery status.  If you bought Etsy Labels and shipped on time, then the correct tracking number was entered and an approved shipper was used.   Nothing to worry about.

Yes, it is already showing it has affected my star seller status, as 2 points are shaved off this exact order number and it is showing as “pre transit” yet also showing as DELIVERED when clicking the tracking directly from the receipt.

It definitely has affected my star seller status in the past. This particular one label dropped it to 98% so if I had one or 2 more, it would drop me below 95% which is the number when you lose star seller status. I can have about 3 glitches that were definitely on the etsy end, as this one was, and lose star seller status. It takes awhile, beyond a month to get the algorithms back. I got a response from the tech team and they said it was not just me being affected by this, and I just got a response where they updated and fixed my shipping to show delivered now. I don’t use etsy labels, but directly use USPS.

Notwithstanding possible glitches on Etsy's end, an order still in "pre transit" usually means that the tracking information AS ENTERED cannot be validated. What happens if you click on the tracking number link on the actual order? If it opens the tracking page and shows the scan history then you have proof that the tracking information was entered correctly. Unfortunately then we are at the mercy of when, if, and how often AfterShip (Etsy's third party tracking vendor) updates the underlying data.

If that does not work, and if the shipping company is supported by Etsy make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on the actual order. Etsy relies on a third party vendor for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order. An unsupported shipping company or invalid / unverified tracking number equals shipped without tracking.

Perpetual "pre-transit" is fairly common and doesn't necessarily mean a problem with the tracking number.  I ship about 40 packages a week via USPS and see this from time to time.  It's often just plain operator error (human) at USPS.

Except is is AS ENTERED and even etsy shows it as DELIVERED. Nothing is INCORRECT in the tracking. It is “shown correctly on the actual order.

How long ago? Sometimes the star seller data takes a couple days to update. I have a few packages that still show pretransit months or years later. With reviews lol. Has never once affected my star seller status.

If the applicable CSV file on your Star Seller page shows this order as shipped without tracking, you should pursue it as Etsy can and has fixed an order's transit status - while Etsy will not manually adjust Star Seller stats they can, in some cases, fix the underlying data and then the Star Seller stats will auto update (but not retroactively).

When I clicked on the link in the actual order, it said delivered. But still showed on the receipt as “pre transit”. I use usps shipping and do not use the etsy shipping. And it was the correct number. Etsy did say it was an internal problem with them and not me. They finally updated it.

It actually showed as delivered when clicking the tracking number from the receipt, but above on the same receipt showed as “pre transit”. And I use the usps website for shipping, which is supported. They responded and said it was on their end and did correct it.

As FallenAngel says, did you check that the tracking # is accurate? Even so, it's not etsy, it's the USPS that hasn't registered it as delivered.

Yes the tracking is correct and even when I click the tracking ON the etsy shipping page, it shows as delivered and delivered to the correct address.

I've had this happen to me twice before. I contacted Etsy via chat and they updated the orders to delivered status. Hope this helps and they do the same for you.

Thanks. Waiting for a call back. It happened before with several orders and etsy was able to correct 2 of them. But not more than that, even though it was an etsy mistake, mot mine and not usps.

You can use chat and ask them to update the shipping status for that order number. I think delivery times are relevant and monitored by AI.

I tried and they refused to do it manually when I called, as they have in the past. But they just fixed it. They need to be more open about shipping corrections when it’s their fault and also not try to force people to use their labels.

@OneGoodReason Be careful what you post here ... verbatim notes from Etsy are not allowed!  You need to remove it before the mods do!

Wondering how you shipped the item that says "pre transit" but shows as "delivered"?  Was this shipped via FCM Letter/Flat?  If so, that is a common occurrence with those labels.
