Etsy’s running a site-wide Father’s Day sale with code "fathersday2024" and inviting Etsy sellers to participate, but there's an issue. If you set a discount with a minimum amount they save the value wrong. I tried to set a minimum of $50 and it set the minimum to $0.50. You can end the sale early and re-join with a different amount, but I can't seem to get it to work at $50 no matter what I enter. At $500 it sets the minimum to $5. At $5000 it sets the minimum to $0.05. It's a mess, and if you're not looking closely you might get caught out and end up with discounts that cost you money.
I tried contacting Etsy about this but they have all sorts of dark-patterns (like a bot that slow walks responses) to keep you from getting through to an actual human. Frustrating, but ultimately I just won't participate in this sale.
Yes! I just lost money on a sale! I offer free shipping, so when the customer applied the 25% discount with a minimum of 40 cents - 40 cents?! seriously?! I lost money on this transaction. Yes, I offer some items under $10 with free shipping to entice shoppers - which usually pays off; but I doubt it will on this transaction. We need better IT programming - every year we see major bugs that should not be slipping through.
I had the same, but it was set $0.04 min order! Etsy support was no help, stating they couldn't reimburse. This isn't my error! So frustrating.
They need to hire real PROFESSIONALS to manage this site: Computer Software Engineers with a Bachelor of Science Degree. If you hire teenagers for $12 an hour with no degree or experience, this chaos is what you get. I actually see code pop up when I'm editing my shop sometimes. This should NEVER happen.
If any company is serious about producing quality and efficient service, they will hire quality employees. You always get what you pay for!
I had the same issue. I thought I accidentally did this and stopped it.
Happened to me. Twice. And it's not the first glitch that I've lost money on. I also recently discovered that I've being charged twice for a single listing's auto-renew.
I ended my sale because of the same reason and can not get it activated with a set amount
Happened to me as well and I only noticed because a sale went through. I contacted Etsy support through the chat and they were able to credit me for the coupon amount.
I lost over $60 due to this - how did you contact them to get refunded
It happened to me as well. Set the minimum at $150 and it was showing a 25% off with the minimum order of $1.50. Just noticed it today and ended the sale. Thought it was a mistake on my part.
Same issue happening to our shop - at first I thought it was a sale (Mother's Day?) that was supposed to include Etsy covering the difference for the discount. But after the 3rd low-profit sale in 2 days I started investigating, to find the same issue others are having - can't input the minimum total without it reverting to a ridiculously low minimum. And apparently admin is doing nothing to address this...?
I’ve tried many times to join the Fathers Day Sale by offering 20% off orders over $100. ETSY keeps posting it as 20% off orders of $1
Anyone else with this issue?
@Former_Member - there have been a number of threads about it...seems the decimal is off by two places for a lot of people.
I don't think it's even as simple as that. Some people said they tried increasing the order minimum to a much larger number, thinking it would move the decimal over to the right spot (like instead of a $50 minimum, changing it to be $500 or $5,000), and that seemed to make it worse somehow. Like instead of it glitching and saying the minimum was $.50, it went to $.05 when the amount was raised. And going the other way, putting the minimum at $.50 or $.05 didn't seem to work either. I haven't tried to participate myself, so I don't have first-hand experience of this, but I saw many people struggling and couldn't get it to work correctly no matter what they tried.
Yes, gave it up as a bad job!
I joined the etsy promotion 'fathersday2024' and set the discount to 25% off minimum order of $75 but the promotion in my store says 25% off 0.75cents. I didnt notice this till an order just came through from a customer. I will honor the order but there is a bug in the promotion.
I have deleted and re-joined the promotion several times and the problem is still occurring. Etsy please fix and Sellers be aware.
Yes, and I'm sure Etsy know about it. I had seven attempts to give 25% off £30, but it kept reverting to £0.30, even though the minimum purchase is £1! I tried £300 and £3000, just the same thing.
@LhyLoCo - This is a thread started yesterday on the problem:
There are also others in different forums. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’re investigating the issue, and we’ll share an update as soon as we have more information. We appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this!
I just received a message that I'd been credited for the money I lost on this glitch, but it's not even 50% of what I lost. The amount is easy for Etsy to find in my sales history, so what gives here?
I lost over $60 --I did not sign up for this . defiantly did not do 25%iff if you spend $.30, I want a refund. Will Etsy give me my money back?

I thought this was my fault and lost money on a sale. I would like my money back.
Edit: I just contacted chat customer service regarding this and they escalated my case.
I received a refund from Etsy for the discount on the order two days after I requested it!
Thanks for your patience while we investigated this further. We identified and fixed an error that affected Father’s Day sales events that were created with an order minimum price.
We recognize this error may have affected sellers who participated in different ways, so we’ve reached out to those sellers directly to provide additional support and make things right.
For those of you who would like to participate in the sale, rest assured the issue is fixed and moving forward you can set an order minimum for the Father’s Day sales event that will apply to future qualifying orders. If you’d like to participate in the Father’s Day sales event, go here.
We apologize for any disruption this may have caused!
