I just posted a video on my listing for a baby music box, but there is no sound. There is sound when I open it in my documents. I don't understand...
Etsy's listing videos don't allow audio so they mute the videos.
Here's the help center article about adding videos to listings: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053206073-How-to-Add-a-Listing-Video?segment=selling
Oh ok! I didn`t know there was no volume lol it was a music box, wanted to make buyers hear
As @givemeacrown said, listing videos don't have sound. A workaround might be to provide a link in your description that directs potential buyers to an audio file.
Thanks for the suggestion!
@JulesTreasureCorner ^^ this. If you have social media for your shop, put a link (non-clickable) in the description directing buyers to that page where you can upload the video with audio.
I am tiring of poor communication from Etsy. I too wasted time establishing a video for use in my shop, in response to urging from Etsy. My video is an instructional video & needs the sound. Ughh. Hours of my time wasted, again.
@BespokeBinders: I suspect that Etsy's thinking is that the video should highlight the product and since they are a multi-lingual platform audio is superfluous; plus how much instruction can you provide in 15 seconds.
lots
I really don't understand why Etsy refuses to allow sound. Perhaps because it is more difficult to control what they are hosting?? Or maybe because it takes up more server space??
Likely because lots of people may have music in the background of it that they have no lisencing for to be included in what would be considered a marketing video.
But if you are selling a vintage instrument (or MUSIC BOX) and want people to hear the quality of the sound you can't.. that IMO is dumb
