Hello.
I always reply to messages within an hour but my response rate is about 80% because in the beginning I received a lot of messages from scammers and I stopped responding to them. Messages from fraudsters asking for email address confirmation should not be included in the statistics. Will reporting this messages change my rating?
Etsy never makes adjustments. Star Seller is automated and the bots just see an unanswered message but they don't know who from or what it is about. Emails from scammers need to be marked as spam to keep your response rate. Go and mark them all as spam and maybe some will be in time to adjust your score.
And you need to use a browser to do so as the spam folder does not show up on the new app
you have to reply or mark as spam
so do one or the other
How many years has it been since SSB started?
@AreksVintageFinds: The Star Seller metric for messages is very simplistic and binary - either you replied to (or marked as SPAM) that first message of a new incoming thread within 24 hours or you did not.
A controversial workaround : if the unanswered new thread is not a Help Request, at least for the time being, it appears that marking an unanswered new thread as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two (but not retroactively) if the original message was within the current star seller period. Note that subsequent messages from that account may go directly to the SPAM folder.
Unless something has changed recently, you can only mark a message as SPAM using the buyer app or a browser, the option is not available in the seller app.
Download your message response CSV
for each message that is marked as a 'no', go to the message. If it is from a scammer, mark it as spam.
message stats will recalculate - it can take several days - and messages marked as spam will no longer count against you
You won't get Star Seller retroactively but for the next period you won't have spam messages dragging down your score.
