Hello there!
I suddenly received emails today that someone had wanted to place an order on 11/20/2023. But I apparently need to verify my card? And in the verification process was asked the balance amount? Also, these orders haven't shown up (they say because I need to verify my card), but nothing has changed and any fees to Etsy have come out just fine. Has anyone else had this? I find it odd that I would need to verify a balance...

SCAM!!!!! Etsy has all the info they need to process an order. Do not respond, mark the message as spam.
Your card has nothing to do with it. This is a scam attempt. Do not engage. Mark the message as spam.
If you mean you received messages, it’s a scam. Also, make it a habit to come to the forums frequently to keep abreast of the latest information. There are tons (unfortunately) of questions and threads just like yours, asking about email requests and credit card info/verification.

I want to say thank you to you folks who answered the question for the OP. I had the same thing happen (twice since I opened my shop this morning) and suspected scams on both. Good thing I am a suspicious little critter.
