Variation Switches not Sticking

I'm trying to create variations for a series of items based on size, color, and number of panels personalized. I lumped size and color together under Variation 1, and was able to vary prices, SKU's and quantities without any problems. But when I try to add the second variation ("Designs"), the three sliders (Prices/Quantity/SKU) keep switching back to "on" for all three elements for all variations.

As far as I can tell, the sliders should be set to "Prices vary (for Variations 1&2)", "Quantities vary (for Variation 1 only)", and "SKUs vary (for Variation 1 only)." But when I set them up that way and click Apply, they switch back to everything varies for everything, which creates around 200 entries to manually type in (two of those are columns that I already entered when I set up Variation 1, but none of that data appears on this larger form).

All I'm looking to do is add a few bucks to personalize one or more panels. Am I misunderstanding how variations work or is this a broken element?

Thanks!

As you've got prices vary on both variations, it will create a long list, and you can't turn off qty and sku for 1 variation.

If only 1 variation had prices, qty and/or sku varies, it would work they way you want it to; but if prices vary is ticked for both, it has to do what it's doing, to be able to input each options combo price.

@CappuccinoLace  I guess that's where I'm getting confused because the options I want are visible and selectable in the drop-down boxes.

When I select Prices Vary for both variations, the drop-down options don't change for Quantity or SKU. If, as you say, it's working correctly, then those fields should be greyed out or disappear completely. Instead, they say exactly what I want them to do, they just aren't doing it.

I would try to simplify your variations so they are not so convoluted for yourself or your buyers.

@JJewellerySuppliesUK  You're not wrong. If Etsy would add two more variation options, it would make things much simpler for buyers. Unfortunately, I can only work with what's available.
