Puerto Rico
US Virgin Islands etc.
These are not official states of United States. But Etsy addresses are accepting these states inside the US.
But these are another country. They have their own governments and they are free states! So,
when I get an order from these states, what should I do?
Prices of the shipping to these INDEPENDENT-COUNTRIES are more expensive than US shipping prices.
So there are 3 options,
1. When I got orders from these INDEPENDENT-COUNTRIES, I should cancel the order.
2. When I got orders from these INDEPENDENT-COUNTRIES, I want extra money from customers like a beggar.
3. MOST LOGICAL SOLUTION, Etsy team should fix this problem and should stop seeing these countries as states of US. Because these INDEPENDENT-COUNTRIES are COUNTRIES as de-jure.
So what is your solution? I talked with Etsy Support, but as they always do, they do nothing. they just waste time.
I wanted t try here this time. If no solution here, I will cancel the orders by saying that we can't ship to your location due to etsy's fault.

@ArtDollsbyJD yeah I was letting the OP know (who is in Turkey so I think her shipping profiles would be set up like the EU ones). Postal code doesn't drive this one alas, it is purely "country", I mean we even have some of our dutch Isles in the Carribean which are considered "dutch cities" listed as countries in our postal system and in the Etsy shipping profiles. Just a formality to differentiate shipping (costs) I suppose.

Re: Unofficial States
I have the same issue. A consumer from Puerto Rico keeps buying my products under US shipping prices, but since I am from Europe, the shipping price to PR is much more expensive than to mainland US. I think Etsy should offer an option to disable or adjust US shipping prices for different US territories.

Re: Unofficial States
This is an old post but I believe if you read all the responses (not the OP) you will find out how to handle the situation.
Being in the US it costs me no more to send to PR than it does the mainland states. While PR and the other places named are not states, they are U.S. territories and postage is based on U.S. rates.
