Unjustified Removal of My Listings – Immediate Clarification Requested

Dear Etsy Team,
Several of my listings have been removed with the justification that they are considered "dangerous goods." This classification is completely unjustified, as the products in question are handmade children's pants, which I have been selling on your platform for years without any issues. Despite multiple attempts to contact you, I have not received any specific explanation. Your chat support has also been completely unhelpful.

Why were multiple listings of my handmade children's clothing removed from the platform without a clear explanation, and why have none of my inquiries been answered for weeks?

I demand a clear and detailed response.

There are only sellers here, did the deactivated items have drawstrings by any chance?

There are specific safety standards and legal requirements for children's clothing

The bot may have ignored they were pants and just picked out the drawstrings part

I understand that the issue may be related to the drawstrings on some of my pants, and I appreciate your concern for product safety. However, I would like to point out that there are items – specifically some pants – that were listed on the platform last year without any issues, and now they have been removed without further clarification.

The fact that the items have been successfully listed previously does not negate the fact that Etsy disallows childrens clothing with drawstrings due to choking hazards and in line with laws in many locations.  

Look at it this way, we have speed limits on our roads, but many people ignore them and speed anyway.  An individual may get away with that for a while, but that doesn't change the law, and eventually they are likely to be caught.  Telling the policeman who is booking them that they have never been pulled over before will not get them off the hook.  Likewise, laws, and speed limits, are subject to change, and what you might have done in the past may no longer be acceptable in the future.

Use the Contact Us link from the Help Section in your shop to seek answers from Etsy on why the bots removed the items in this instance.  I wish you luck in getting a satisfactory result.

Some of the strings are pretty long. If the child is sitting, it looks like they could still be a choking hazard. We can only guess here. Etsy is the only one who can clarify.

even if you don't sell to the USA, you have to comply

loungewear, is also considered sleapwear - which your items say they are, and there are additional requirements for those.

and I also don't' even see any safety information for the EU GPSR safety requirements

you do not comply with Germany online selling laws

you need a right to withdraw policy - which most German sellers get from a paid subscription to lawyer companies, as it is so important to get correct and keep up to date
plus a GDPR privacy policy
your address, e-mail address, and phone number in sellers details, and tick the trader box
