Unfair Listing Removal & Lack of Etsy Support Response for 3 Months

Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this or has advice on how to get Etsy's attention. I've been trying to resolve an issue with Etsy Support for over 3 months now, and I'm at a loss for what to do next.

Here’s the situation:

  • Three months ago, one of my listings was unfairly removed. Customer service confirmed this was because my designs were found on big retailer websites. While it’s true these retailers had my designs, they were stolen from me.
  • I’ve been actively working with these sites to take down over 90 infringing listings and have proven that I’m the original copyright holder through DMCA filings.
  • Despite providing Etsy with this evidence, including design process photos and proof that I’ve successfully removed many unauthorized listings, they haven’t responded to any of my follow-ups. Even worse, my recent support request was marked as 'complete' without any resolution or response from Etsy.

Recently, a second listing was removed. I lost my Star Seller and Etsy infored me that if I receive just one more violation, my entire shop will be shut down. I’ve had to take down all of my best sellers, which I know are being stolen by these retailers, for fear of another violation. This has resulted in significant financial losses, not just for me but for Etsy as well.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Any advice on how to get Etsy’s attention, or steps I can take next? Any help would be much appreciated.

It's unbelievable how many handmade sellers this is happening to. Just take a look at how many daily forum posts are regarding this from desperate sellers. I also am one of these sellers. 13 years and 84,000 sales and I am having so much difficulty getting this resolved. I feel like Etsy needs to look into this and make a statement, the problem is growing exponentially.  

I dont know if I can offer any advice, I just keep trying to reach out to customer support every other day.

You have lovely things.

Etsy is not doing a great job with recognizing real artists on here. There are a LOT of unfair takedowns.

I suggest contacting Cindlouwho2 through Reddit or her LinkedIn account, as she is trying to help out sellers just like you, with unfair takedowns.

 

On a side note, you'll need to bring your shop into compliance with Etsy's new Creativity Standards before they start enforcing them more vigorously. You have listings with graphics like "YOUR CUSTOM QUOTE GOES HERE!", which is no longer allowed.

This has happened to me.  I found my image on Alibaba and had the seller remove it.  I explained this all to Etsy but so far they don’t care.  They have deactivated my best seller.  They told me I could make a new listing with new photos but won’t restore my star seller badges.
