Understanding LUCID Compliance: Shipping to Germany via Intermediary Companies

Hello,

I usually do not ship to Germany, but I have learned that my intermediary company manually adds its own LUCID number as a label to every package sent to Germany. However, they have a policy of not sharing their LUCID number with anyone, so I cannot enter it into the ETSY system under the "German LUCID Identification Number" section.

If I were to register for Germany and add my own LUCID number to the package, there would then be two unique LUCID numbers. When I asked them if there is any way to exempt my packages from using their LUCID number, they informed me that such functionality does not exist. It seems I may be the first person to raise this issue. Since they send in bulk (e.g., 500 units per month), their recycling calculations or estimates differ from individual shipments.

My question is: Can I send packages to Germany without entering a LUCID number on the ETSY panel, as my intermediary company will use their own LUCID number for the shipments?

Best regards

In your case I would get your own lucid number so you can prove your own compliance. If the company then relabels with their own that’s their business

This is a good idea although it could be totally unnecessary.  Maybe the OP could sign up for the cheapest amount?

I bet even Etsy can't answer this question!!

I am not sure if the lack of LUCID number entered would actually prevent you shipping to Germany.  I think it is there in case you have a LUCID number (which you don't) so you can leave it blank.  That was obviously entered before the recent GPSR requiring a third party to ship your items.

I can also add this information in the Shipping Section of my store:

"For packages sent to Germany, the shipment will comply with VerpackG, and the intermediary company '[Intermediary Company Name]' will include its LUCID number on the packages."

@ValeryAccessory You can do so but for whose benefit are you writing it?   Etsy will not look at it.  If it were me, I would leave the number blank and send your parcels to the intermediary as it seems the responsibility for LUCID has shifted to the intermediary since you are no longer directly shipping your parcels yourself to Germany.  I would not worry about it any further.

That seems like the most logical approach, but ETSY and some sellers here tend to be quite sensitive about the necessity of sharing this kind of information, either for the sake of transparency or possibly from a legal standpoint.
