How do I get Etsy support to understand that the problem is an error that can't be fixed by me and a human being needs to properly listen and fix the issue?
Contact them.
I've contacted them four times, this is day #8 and still no proper assistance.
@SNBeautique: "I've contacted them four times" Every eMail from Etsy support should have a link something like "I Still Need Help". Click on that link in each reply from Etsy (or actually reply stating that you still need help) to keep the report alive otherwise Etsy will assume that it is resolved. You may have to do this innumerable times, before anything is done but do not give up. DO NOT open a new issue or contact Etsy multiple times about the same issue (doing so closes the one you already opened and puts the new one on the bottom of the pile).
Every time I read one of these posts, it just baffles me. A company this size should indeed have Human Support, especially when there are issues having to do with anything re: banking/tax verification/Plaid verification/Hacked Accounts. As NanaLetha said, the only thing you can do is try to contact Support. In your Dashboard Left Column: Community & Support > Contact. Keep clicking the provided drop down options in the menus until you come to "I still need help". And if you still don't receive that help, I would rethink where I sell. I'm sorry.
I agree on finding another place to sale but honestly, support is like this for most places these days. Unless more people decide to stand up, it will be pointless. After this last try, I will close the shop, put it out on SM and move on.
@SNBeautique What kind of "error" are you getting? Is it gray? Need more information to help you.
The Etsy msg says the shop is frozen due to unverified taxpayer information, because I entered it incorrectly. When I try to correct it, I get an error when I press the Submit tab. Error says, " There was an error saving your taxpayer information. Please try again". I tried several times over the last week and it does allow me to make changes and the support team members have been useless.
Correction *it does NOT allow me to save the changes made. Ooops
@SNBeautique This was posted by Etsy staff a while back:
"Our engineering partners are currently aware of an issue where the "Update your taxpayer info" alert is showing to some sellers with that information already on file. We've added your report to the ongoing investigation so the team can take a deeper look into what's going on.
At this time, we do not have a time frame for when this issue will be resolved, but please know that we prioritize our technical issues based on the impact to our marketplace. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out with any additional questions via a new ticket! "
Well that's just unbelievable. Three months ago and still not fixed???? Why is this not a priority. Many people having the same issue.
Looks like this error has still not been fixed. Just ridiculous. Seems my shop will be frozen indefinitely then. Very disappointing Etsy.
Unfortunately, my information is incorrect and I need to fix it in order for the shop to be reinstated. The error happens when I press the Submit button, it says there is an error and to try again but it does not detail the error.
Somebody last night said they put their first name in as their last name AND as their first name and it went. Not sure but ... which if true is totally ridiculous that their coding is THAT bad.
I know that all the blanks need to be filled in, put zeros in the beginning if your tax id is too short to fill the blanks.
I'm having the same issue. I did a Chat with a number of different reps. They just didn't 'get it'. FINALLY, they referred my issue to Technical Support. That was three weeks ago and still not resolved. Unable to open my new shop because of their glitch with Financial Info, SS#, LLC.
Wow! Just looked at the date of my original message. It was August 30, 2023. Unbelievable. Haven't had ANY communications regarding this FROZEN account or status of fix.
