Everytime when I go in and make a close up of the listing photo, clicked saved and then publish the change, the thumbnail just won't save and it's still the original view. I want a zoom in view. Anyone having the same problem? Sometimes, it will work after going back and redoing it for a few times. Sometimes, it just won't work no matter how many times I tried. This is so frustrating.
I have the same problem. I hope the issue will be fixed soon.
Try clearing your cache files and restarting your browser.
That did not work. Why have you assumed it's something we've caused and not a software issue? I'm trying to understand and feeling unheard.
This has been happening on and off for years. A few days ago it was happening to me too. I had to publish the listing then edit it. One listing took five attempts but it finally stuck.
I've been having the same issue with the thumbnail pictures. I have to go into the listing at least three times or more. Do you have a Mac computer? I'm wondering if it's a Safari issue.
Susan
Having the same issue. I'm using Chrome. So annoying
Happens to me half the time too. I'm on a mac desktop but I've tried safari, chrome and firefox.
So it doesn't seem to be the browser. It appears that there were issues in July, November and a few replies yesterday. The issue resolution suggestions have not worked for me. I've just been suffering in silence about this issue for months, thinking that's just how it is. I don't believe this issue is resolved and that others are suffering too.
SAME EXACT PROBLEM HERE! Looks like it's been an issue for years. Wish Etsy would fix it. A lot of us waste valuable time on this bug.
I totally agree. It's been happening for so long people have stopped complaining. It's a time suck and I hate that this has been swept under the rug.
There are just so many basic things that Etsy fails to work on. Unbelievable for a platform this big and we pay so much fees, we deserve better.
I totally agree.
- Thumbnail failing to save bug has been present at a minimum of 5 years, probably more like 8 IIRC. I wondered if the new (and clearly worst) listing screen would fix it, sadly not.
- The way thumbnail sizing works is bizarre. You are forced to make thumbnails now with a square 1:1 resolution, but then in order to get the 4:3 that Etsy uses in other places, rather than expanding into available space, it cuts off bottom and top from the 1:1. Which means cutting off sections of the product, in my case. So even if the pictures have a lot padding, it's literally impossible to use a certain amount of it for the thumbnails, since it will always require resize to square, and then back to rectangle within the square. This also makes it impossible for me to properly position products to fit both sizes, oh and I end up having to re-take pictures if they don't have sufficient padding built in. It's absolutely crazy making.
Oh and apparently Etsy have about 1000 "engineers", in case anyone was interested....
This has been happening to me for months regardless of updates, changes in browsers or when I utilize different devices. It is an intermittent issue on Etsy's side. What's always worked for me is going back in and recropping the thumbnail image after the listing has been saved once. Etsy's listing program is easy to use. But I don't find it efficient. I just deal with it since trying to fix the problem with Etsy will likely be even more time-consuming without making a difference.
I also posted this on another thread. The thumbnail just takes time to save. After saving the thumbnail, just leave it and then come back in an hour or so. It will then show correctly, in the way you saved it. I experienced this for my last 10 listings, and it worked. So no need to spend like 15 or 30 min working on it. It will eventually work.
I hope so. However I just listed six items in a row and only two thumbnails did not stay resized. The others did immediately. That makes zero sense. Etsy needs to take more concern about fixing these dumb glitches.
Huge issue - there's been multiple posts across the last few days, and it's mind blowing why this isn't a priority to be fixed ASAP.
