I just got a message from a potential buyer, but, it wouldn’t send my reply. It says “ if this keeps happening contact Etsy support”
How do I contact Etsy support and report this technical issue? Thank you!
It is probably a scammer and etsy already deleted their account. Scroll though the forums to familiarize yourself of common scams—this is one of them.
If or when a "buyer" has a "problem" with their order, they have to contact etsy, not you.
@AubreyMade - There are 2 usual reasons for a shop owner's inability to reply to a message.
First - the shop owner has been sending out promotional messages which are considered spam. Etsy will mute the shop for an unknown length of time.
Second - The account that sent the message may have been disabled by Etsy since it may be linked to this "potential buyer" actually sending out scam, spam messages. Usually when this happens you will see a notation that the account no longer exists. Mark these messages as spam and forget about them.
Yes, this could have been a scammer who has been deleted by Etsy so you will not be able to reply. If ever you get a message that asks for your email or to take the conversation off Etsy, mark it as spam and do not communicate. Do not click links in Etsy messages.
In addition, if you get a message in your inbox saying it is from Etsy staff or something similar, ALWAYS check your messages in a browser (not the app) and look for the "From Etsy" tab under Messages>Inbox>Order help requests. Click that. If the message is not there, it is not from Etsy, it is a scam. Mark as spam.
