Unable to edit new shop while in vacation mode??

Jump to solution
When I try to edit my other shop, which is currently in vacation mode I get an annoying yellow bar that says "Your shop is in holiday mode. Go to settings to reactivate."

Yes, I know that it is on holiday mode and I would like it to stay that way until I am ready to go live...why did they get rid of this function?

I really liked editing my listings when on vacation mode. I hope they didn't take that away.

I can't seem to get rid of the yellow banner so I guess they did remove the option... :(

Did you go through the listing manager to edit your items? I go there, click on the item I want to edit, then click on the edit tab on top, and then edit it.

I tried that now and apparently I can edit listings and the layout in the old tabs but just not in the new layout...very confusing.

Okay - I had this same issue come up - needed to edit my shop - put up a new banner and edit a few minor rewrites. I too was unable to do this in vacation mode. The problem with this is that I need to stay in vacation mode due to a very painful back injury that is very hard on my body when I weave (or do anything, including typing this). The edits I was doing did not require a lot of typing, nor did they take very long. However, Etsy automatically sends that notice out that the shop is reopened and I had people dashing over to go shopping. I managed to get it turned back off but one order squeeked through. I don't want to disappoint the customer so I'll try to weave her basket with the understanding that it's going to take a while and interfere with my recovery. 2 other customers contacted me because they'd been notified the shop reopened and they wanted to place orders. It's bad enough that we are forced to edit with the shop turned on, but in a case like this, Etsy has really fudged things up. There is a history here (I've been here since 2006) of making technical changes to the site that really aren't so good and rushing them onto the site before they are fine tuned.

Hello! That sounds very stressful...although it must feel nice to have such a popular shop! Since you commented a year ago, have you noticed any change in the process of updating while in vacation mode? This is what I'm also trying to do right now. I'm pretty sure if my shop is live nobody is going to it anyway since I have no items listed (complete overhaul in progress!) But still, like the original poster, I want to update everything before it is live and why the heck can't we?

I hope you've since recovered from your injury.

I also wish I could edit my shop while in vacation mode. Unless they have a shop closed option this is the only way to pause orders while restocking and updating. Otherwise I have to deactivate all my listings and open the shop. Then I have to make all the edits and reclose it til I am ready. Its quite inconvenient.

I'm still experiencing this issue too. All I want to do is update my shop cover photo to display a different message but don't want to reopen yet. Have anyone else found a way around this? So frustrating!
