I have been told by Etsy that they have been unable to deposit funds into my Australian bank account. This has been an ongoing saga with difficulty verifying my identify, then my bank account, then the payment bounces, then it all happens again. I'm sick of forking out for goods and postage, and having the money held.
It is not an issue with my bank as I have contacted them, and upon reading, it seems to be fairly common with Commonwealth Bank in Australia and Etsy, something to do with codes.
I don't seem to get any help contacting Etsy directly through Etsy support, so posting here seems to be my only option.
Ive had this ongoing for a while too, but i think ive sorted mine. As Etsy have recently changed payment processors they would have set up the bank details for payment again and maybe picked up a flaw in mine in that the name on my Etsy Shop was different to that on my bank account, since i became Limited. I had spaces in my Bank accout name but not on my Etsy shop and given that it is an app that verifies i think it was picked up as wrong. Ive now changed mine and hoping that this time it goes through.
Been blaming Etsy for weeks when all along it was something i had wrong, feel quite silly but you live and learn
So I would check that your bank acount name and etsy subscription name is exactly the same, just in case its that.
Have you checked everything matches exactly - letter for letter and full stop
it's a program matching A against B, so each letter/number/dot has to match
also, etsy doesn't allowPO boxes, so ensure the bank address is a full address - which also matches exactly

I'm also with CBA in Aus, and haven't had any issues yet.
So this has been ongoing since I started the shop, which is integrated with Shopify. I have never been paid. All the funds from sales are being held by Etsy. I've changed my name as was mid divorce, and started a new bank account because it wouldn't accept that my government ID and name were different. I've uploaded my ID at least four times, which finally got verified. I've uploaded my bank account details too many times to count. I've had to change my legal name of my business at least twice as the bank account is in a business name and the last email from Etsy said they won't accept my business name in my legal name, e.g. Firstname Lastname TA CF Designs. The business name is one of two registered to my ABN, due to the nature of my business, so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it. I've just uploaded my bank statement AGAIN.
I just need to talk to a human in Etsy Support to get this sorted out and tell me EXACTLY what the issue is, so that the now over $2000 that is sitting there in sales, can be sorted out and used to purchase more materials. I've already directed all my customers AWAY from my Etsy shop, to use Shopify instead until I get this sorted, because I cannot afford to have funds from sales and postage sitting for months.
@CollaredFoxy As others have already said, ID Verification is, in the initial stages, conducted by a third party AI service (Persona). The whole process is AI driven and any variation, no matter how minor, will delay the verification process.
You will have an additional complication as you have changed your Name and, subsequently, your information with your Bank
There have been many other Sellers who have reported difficulties after a Name change due to Marriage or Divorce.
As Etsy does not permit "change of ownership" of Shops, Name changes do cause issues because the system sees the new name as a new owner.
In all of the cases I have read about recently, Etsy required certified copies of documentation demonstrating the change of Name. (Marriage Certificate / Divorce Papers etc).
Once these documents are sent, the ID verification will then be moved to a manual check by a real person.
One problem with this process which had also been reported is that the Etsy Support Rep physically confirms that documentation supports the claim that the new name and old name are of the same person. They manually approve the ID and lift any restrictions.
But .... it has also been reported that, after the next Order, the AI Bots at Persona detect a "mismatch" and reject the verification again.
I have not seen any reports recently that indicate if and how Etsy has addressed this issue, so I do not know if it is still on-going or if manual verification now "sticks" and the bots leave the Shop alone.
Try sending any documentation to Etsy via the email process in the Help Center. Then keep replying "I still need help" to the multiple bot responses you will receive. Eventually, if you keep responding from the one Ticket, eventually the issue will pass to a human.
One other suggestion is to revert to using your Married Name (or whateve name was used to set up this account) again until you get a deposit, then put your Shop on Vacation while Etsy revviews your new documentation.
This is me. I have the same issue, over and over, attempting Ai to get my issues sorted. NEVER has a person grabbed my case and actually tried to help. It's just pointless.
