Since the new version of creating a listing came into being, I cannot choose a category. When I enter the category, let's just say jewelry pendants, a box quickly pops up, but, when I try to click on my choice, the box just goes away.
I did see that someone else was having this problem back in April, but, no solution was offered other than to say - quit using new version, go back to the old. Well, that was ok then, but, now it's the new version or nothing. So, there really wasn't a solution given.so
Anyone else run into this problem?
I have not run into that problem because I always use the duplicate feature and edit the new listing. The category transfers over.
Ihave had no problem with either using copy where the category transfers or new where I have to add the category.
It might be your device. Are you using the app or other device? Have you tried a browser> Have you cleaned out your cache and cookies and run utilities to clean your computer.
Does it happen at a particular time? Might be your ISP.
For your example just try pendants. I just did and the box stayed open and I was able to scroll the box. I use Edge.
I had this problem and was able to "work around" by switching the item to a digital one, then back to a physical one.
It seemed to reset the system and then allowed me to publish.
STUPID that it is still broken, but hopefully this works for you.
I have also been having issues with Category. I have been using my standard listing pages for ages, but since the new listing format was forced on me I now have no control over what categories are selected. I make stuffed animals, and my toys have always been Toys&Games-Toys-Stuffed animals-bears (or whatever). Etsy now shows a notation that my items are being listed in FIVE new categories besides stuffed animals, including amigurumi (which is wrong), Baby Toys (which is wrong) and "Patterns and Blueprints". Really?? I'm particularly concerned by the "Baby Toys" category because I strongly believe no infant should be given a fake fur toy of any kind, and I say so in my shop "policies" section. Now I have no idea whether or not my items are being purchased for toddlers. There is apparently no way to remove my items from a category once Etsy's system has selected one. I have spent over an hour on various calls to cust svc, and I tried chat too. The response is the same---they'll issue my concerns as a "Feedback" and pass it along. In the meantime there's very little chance anybody will purchase a sock monkey being listed in "Patterns and Blueprints". How do I find a human who can actually help me?
That is scary.
Items sold as "Baby Toys" in the UK & EU have to pass stricter safety requirements than toys for older children. That is probably the case in other countries too.
This looks like a major safety and legal blunder by Etsy.

Could an Admin highlight this to Etsy please.
If listings are being automatically and inappropriately assigned by Etsy to the "Baby Toys" category, when they are not suitable for that particular age group, then there could be serious safety and legal concerns.

It sure takes longer to list a item when it comes to the category section now. There is a page here that Complete Etsy Category List.

I find what I need from what used to be the pull down list on the wonderful listing template we used to have.
Then just copy and paste and then select the category.
best of luck.
