Uk Tax ID

Hello all,

Etsy have asked me to update my seller details and asked for a UK ID number.

I spend a lot of time in SW France hence the name of my shop.

I cannot get past this point as I don,t have a number to put into the UK Tax ID

Any idea what I can do to continue my shop and receive payment ?

Re: Uk Tax ID

@MonsieurHugos

If you are a UK shop, set up with a UK bank account

You have to put your UTR, in the ADDITIONAL taxpayer ID field

HMRC were getting fed up of people that weren't doing their tax returns, if they grossed more than £1,000 in a year selling online, so now they force the platform to tell them .... you have to give etsy your UTR

.....

If you were a French shop, the EU got fed up sooner, so from last year, you would have had to put in your siret/siren number, and etsy would have informed the French authorities.

.......

You HAVE to have a UTR - and if you haven't been doing UK tax returns, back file them asap, as you could get hit with a lot of penalties for not doing the returns, even if it would have worked out you didn't owe tax.
if you owed tax too, it's even bigger penalties, and interest

...

tax returns for selling over £1,000 a year online, have been a requirement since 2015, before that, the threshold was £0
