UPS price adjustment

I’ve recently had quite a few price adjustments through UPS and USPS. I can easily see what the price adjustment is for on USPS, but the link doesn’t work for UPS. Anyone have this happen? I have several that I need to see what was incorrect about the original label and to possibly dispute. But I cannot find anything via UPS or Etsy website. Thanks!

Re: UPS price adjustment

On Dec 24 we got hit with 11 shipping adjustments for UPS and contacted Etsy about them. 7 of them appear to be glitches because the amount is absurdly higher than what we paid from using Etsy's shipping labels. All $20.90 each.
I was also only given a usps.com link to dispute, which is not the correct company to dispute. We have been waiting for a response from Etsy to rectify the situation.

Re: UPS price adjustment

@JWdesignStudio @KYSawdustCreations : We don't use Etsy labels, but it sounds like the Etsy's label portal did not correctly calculate the rate. This complaint has been made about FedEx labels from Etsy too, which have resulted in adjustments.

UPS uses dimensional weight as well as an oversize charge, additional handling charge, etc. https://www.ups.com/us/en/support/shipping-support/shipping-dimensions-weight/avoid-additional-shipp...

Hopefully someone who uses Etsy labels from UPS can assist with how to file a dispute.

Re: UPS price adjustment

The UPS will adjust for particular addresses. WHY that is not charged up front, no clue. They have to know which addresses are rural or residential.

Re: UPS price adjustment

You should be able to reach out to the ups you dropped off at for clarity. Otherwise they should have a customer service line or link.

Re: UPS price adjustment

Yes, UPS charges a Delivery Area Surcharge (DAS) for packages delivered to rural or remote areas:

  • What it is
The DAS is an additional fee to cover the higher operating costs of delivering to less-populated or less-accessible areas.

  • How it's determined
The DAS is based on the destination ZIP code. You can check the UPS website to see if your recipient's ZIP code is subject to the DAS.

  • How much it is
The DAS is $1.30 per package for commercial destinations and $2.10 per package for residential destinations.

  • How to reduce it
You can ask your UPS representative for a discount on the DAS. A 25-50% discount is a good goal.

UPS also charges other surcharges, including:

  • Additional HandlingApplies when the package's longest side is longer than 48 inches, the second-longest side is longer than 30 inches, or the package is in a soft-sided pack that's too big

  • Large PackageApplies to packages that are too large

  • Over Max LimitsApplies to packages that are over the maximum limits

  • Demand SurchargeApplies to packages that require additional handling, are large, or are over the maximum limits

UPS® Shipping Labels on Etsy – Etsy Help

UPS will adjust shipping cost if they deem there was an error.  It appears if anything was not entered in correctly that can be subject to a shipping cost difference.

A few weeks ago another seller noted that their UPS shipments had a high increase for the holiday season.
